Patrol seizes busload of marijuana
Border agents take 1,867 pounds of pot from school bus without lettering.

What looked like a school bus turned out to be a busload of marijuana.
U.S. Border Patrol agents in Casa Grande seized 1,867 pounds of marijuana in a 1988 school bus at about 7:30 Thursday night on federal route 19, according to Rob Daniels, spokesman for the Tucson sector.
When agents noticed the bus had no lettering on it, they pulled behind it to check on the license plate, Daniels said. But from behind, they could see bundles of marijuana through the rear glass door of the bus.
Daniels said the marijuana was in 125 bundles and had a street value of $1.49 million.
The driver, marijuana and school bus were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
"This is an example of how smugglers try to blend in with the law-abiding community," Tucson Sector Chief David Aguilar said.
