Please take a moment to sign the petition at http://CopsSayLegalizeDrugs.com/animals to protest the cruelty of the unnecessary killing of pet dogs by police during encounters with citizens.
Today’s story of police canicide comes to us by way of the Associated Press (click to watch the video). A 62-year-old grandmother in Washington, Massachusetts tells AP that police came to her home serving a drug warrant for her 28-year-old grandson. The grandma asks to put her dog in the back yard or the bathroom. The cops tell her the bathroom would be fine. Later, the cops open the bathroom door, claim this 13-year-old dog named “Wrinkles” attacked them, and they shoot it multiple times. By the way, the grandson hasn’t lived in the home for a dozen years and the only drugs cops found were what they claimed was “drug residue” on some baggies, which the grandma contends is the residue of fortune cookies.
There was another heartbreaking dog killing by police in Lagrange, Missouri, caught on video that you can view on our NORML Stash Blog. This incident did not involve a drug warrant, however. Instead it was a report of an aggressive dog, who on video appeared to be quite calm and friendly, shot to death by an officer after the officer had it fully restrained by chain, noose, and pole.
If we can get the signatures on the signatures on the LEAP petition over 1,000, supermodel Joanna Krupa has agreed to deliver the petition to both PETA and the Humane Society to increase the exposure of this all-too-common police procedure of killing family pets unnecessarily. (For more coverage of police dog killings in drug raids, check our Dog Shooting category at the NORML Stash Blog.)

That grandma is gangsta. Sounds like the dog scared the cop, it was probably a young cop with minimal field training.

Fuck that is so stupid. She put the dog in the bathroom like she was told, then they go into the bathroom and they claim the dog attacked them. So, they kill it.
Next, her grandson who they were serving the warrant on hasn't lived there for years. The only thing they find is a little "drug residue" in a bag, but the grandmother claims it was fortune cookie residue.
How do you mess that much shit up??

This happens more often than you'd think; Happened recently in Detroit while police were serving a warrant. None were inexperienced or in training, they were simply trigger happy--popped the dog upon entry.
Same city not longer after that incident a 7 year old girl was shot in the head during the search for a fugitive.
No sign of aggression necessarily needs to be shown for shit to pop off. All it takes is one officer in "shoot to kill" mode.

happened right by me (Detroit) the best part is the murderer they were after lived in a different unit and A&E video taped the raid where they killed the little girl. The officer is already caught, they lied and said the 80 y/o grandma resisted. really they fired from outside the apartment, no where near the grandma and for some seriously mysterious reason. The whole thing started when some 17 yo kid gave this guy a dirty look at a gas station. The guy killed the kid with a gun, and the police tried to raid his place but went to the lower level unit instead. Fail.

A few raids ago? More than 100 paramilitary raids occur every single day for drugs. It occurred more than a few hundred raids ago.

I meant raids mentioned in the shroomery news service, but shit your right, that was several thousand raids ago.
With over 300,000 raids a year, they can expect to kill innocents. If I was in a committee meeting aproving the justice department budget, I would ask how many innocent people they are expecting to kill in drug raids for the fiscal year.
