Nah. Tv is.
I will have to disagree with you, sir.
So getting an education so you can be a more intelligent person and make a living is more overrated than the garbage that is spewed from the TV? You sound like a person who didn't go to college, not much of a surprise. Have fun watching the news, believe everything they tell you man.

To me he sounds like a person who did go to college, didnt grab the bull by the horns and make the most of it and now is in debt and completely unmarketable. You get out of college what you put into it. If his education could have been had by just reading books like he says, then he obviously didnt put much into it.

Yeah, for most math and science degrees learning from an intelligent professor can be very important. Try teaching yourself Calc III or Quantum Mechanics.

I just hope that by the time I start teaching, inner city schools will be suffering so badly from lack of state funding that the fed gov't will take a much larger chunk off my loans.
Or I might just skip the bullshit and get my Ph.D. while the economy is terrible.
Not a big fan of ideological state apparatuses.

Even now, if I see in my soul the citron-breasted fair one
Still gold-tinted, her face like our night stars,
Drawing unto her; her body beaten about the flame,
Wounded by the flaring spear of love,
My first of all by reason of her fresh years,
Then is my heart buried alive in snow.
The universe is transformation: life is opinion.

first semester at the state university for me: I walk .5-1.5 miles per day on campus....it's a bitch in the hot and humid weather.
Classes are okay... 92.5% is an A- for my abnormal psych class = gay. The rest of my classes seem pretty hard as well. >.<

I like the plus/minus system. In the end it average to the same as the old system (for your GPA), but it just seemed to put less pressure on me. It not 'all or nothing' if you are around the 89-90 mark.

first day, eh? fuck dude. i almost envy you. despite all the hard work, i'd almost want to take mine back and do it all over again. work harder, be more outgoing, spend less time playing fucking video games.
regardless, fuck the "college is overrated" p.o.v. it might be overpriced, you might be able to learn more on your own (though probably not, unless you're especially disciplined); but you can't get the experience anywhere else, around so many kids in that wonderfully adventurous age of 18-22. the college experience is a fucking trip. i wouldn't trade it for the world. i've had so many fantastic memories, and met so many friends who i will love for life. or at least whose memories i will love for life after having moved on and become different people.
i still have trouble accepting it's over, and i graduated like a year and a half ago. fucking enjoy yourself. i know you will. good luck.
