Panaelous (Copelandia) cyanescens
    #1274913 - 02/03/03 02:33 PM (5 years, 9 months ago)

My first attempt at some Pans, not the greatest but very happy. Started them in BRF jars and spawned them to Bovine store bought deyhrated cow manure from Home Depot. Didn't colonize the manure much and thought it was lost cause but decided to case anyway with 50/50+. 2 weeks later in 60 degree temps had pins. Spore syringe from Sporeworks said Cambodian strain.

And some new pins showing up:

GREAT JOB! I want to show some things I have learned from my beautiful pan friends... First pic is recent and is the same substrate and air pump(air exchange) as the pi below only difference is the small ones were fruited in low 70's temp and the large ones were 82-84 temps....Just thought this might help you pan lovers...SEED MATS WORK EXCELLENT FOR RAISING YOUR TEMPS UNDER THE TERRIUM.. Didnt mean to take any attention away from your thread just hoping to help a greater success....big man out...

COLD PANS..

WARM PANS..

Wow, big difference in warmer temps. Those are some beautiful pans. Going to give it another try here soon when things warm up a bit. Last month had temps outside from 5 to 20 below zero. Makes it pretty cold in friends spare room. Will invest in one those seed pads and air pump. AND some real cow manure. Walked thru cow pastures all summer when I was fishing streams and never thought to pick up some patties...duh lol

Thanx for sharing...nice picts..

from the picts it looks like your pans need more oxygen..
fan fan fan..and up the temp a bit.
try an airpump for optimum air exchange.
Pans need it..
peace..

Congratulations !!! I know how hard Pans are to grow (i've got a grow log on them in process). I have found that my poo is colonising quickly (spawned with mix of popcorn and finch).

I have been told that you need to have your terrarium at 22C and this makes a big difference.

Enjoy them! their the best IMO

i think that the tray looks a little dry. this may be bc of the moisture content in the dung. that also may be why it didn't colonize the dung that well. try adding a little more water to the dung next time b4 you pc. they may turn out like this next time. pan cambo!

Thanks, I think it was little dry. Glad I posted. All the imput from others really helps. Have a Pan Trop syringe going to try here soon, think I might try millet . Going to practice some jars first though. Rather buy more millet than a new syringe.

They may be dry, but if you directly mist your casing while there are pan primordia they will almost certainly abort. Made that mistake a few times myself.
Enjoy them - you wont go back to cubies...
