We were at the mcloud mushroom festival a few weeks ago and we talked to one of the dudes that lives up there about mushrooms and the best areas to look then. He had a booth at the fair where he was selling plants. Since then ive been thinking about starting a similar venture. I could start a bunch of peppers, herbs, ethnos, various indoor plants and various cacti and succulents; then sell them at farmers markets, flea markets, and small festivals. Itd be interesting id learn a lot about horticulture in the process. i think i know enough know that i can get this going without failing miserably.

Its not a bad idea to get some extra income if you have the space. I thought about doing it (when i had the space). Potatoes, cabbages, beets, beans, tomatoes (etc.. small space, high yield plants). It will take a while to set up if you have a job (could be time used well over leave). But once things are planted, you can do new planting/harvesting over weekends, and general tending after work during weekdays, take it to the market sunday (or sell it on location if you have advertising). Eventually it could grow into a decent small business if you intend to acquire more space.
I've thought about doing something similar with homeopathy. growing herbs and veges that can be used to make handmade tinctures and pills (ordering raw ingredients if demand gets high). I would need to make a largish dehydration unit (not to hard, or expensive), and buy a press and moulds for making tablets/pills (not so cheap ). My old flat had a large glasshouse, which would've been ideal for herbaceuticals as they could've been tiered up in shallow planters and i could set up a decent drainage system in it. but meh, pipe dreams aye.

I've had the same idea, that ethnos might sell well at farmer's markets, could you imagine a table with torch slices and prickly poppy extracts?
It seems that most people with the ability to do this focus on Cannabis simply because the pay is better.

A lady down the street from me grows stuff in here yard, and sells plants and other things every Saturday on her front lawn.
I'd think your operation would have to be pretty large scale in order to overcome your costs/time and still be competitive with other plant stores/suppliers.

I think it could be done at least as an extra income. once everything gets going it shouldnt take to much to upkeep everything. But returns would be a bit slow at first. if your willing to put the time in it go for it.
