is there a standard adequate for musicians or is it just not to give a fuck?
ive noticed that musicians are sometimes the most complicated people to get together with... including myself, i guess mayb were all into music just cause the way are minds wwork, bt i do have a band im gna try out with that seems to be good...
success in music would be cool though, seems like that gives you more freedom than most other livings... if you can succeed that is

no your a hippie cuz your posting in a forum about ooms
No but seriously, music is great but let that be a hobby not a career, there is very slim chance (like winning the lotto slim) that you will ever make it big, and in the meantime you wont/hardly will be making enough money to cover your expenses.

success in music is rare, don't quit your day job, and if you don't have one, get one, unless being a bum is ok for you.

similar to the way there is "business adequate", but truth is with music i think you just gotta groove with the music when you play. simple as that

you gotta define success first - if it includes freedom to play the music you love and make a ton of money off it and/or popularity, you've probably heaed one too many fairy tales

It's not hard to be successful with music OP.
Just gotta write better songs, and be more clever than everyone else. In regards to marketing and promotion and such.
I play in a band for a most of my living. going on tour for 5 months in september.
Won't make a lot of money. Maybe $2200/month after the band recoups losses.
Playing shows, and selling merch is where we make our money.
The best advice I can give you is to not get in a band with guys who aren't your best friends or.. "bros".
I had to quit my last band because of that. After you spend 4 months sleeping in a van with 3 or 4 other dudes, you get to realize how much you either love or hate them.
I think the ultimate goal here besides fame, is to be able to wake up everyday whenever the fuck you want and not have to say "fuck. I've gotta go to work"... instead, you just have to wake up and write songs, play shows, make records, get adored by fans, fuck bitches, and get drunk for a living.
Music career FTW.
