Active Spring Mushrooms in U.K?

I went picking for the first time last year and got my self an abundance of liberty caps, with ease, during Autumn. Not to mention the few dodgey trips on some vomit enduring Fly Agarics.
I haven't had a trip since the Autumn and my lack of knowledge in spring mushrooms is agitating me; I can't seem to find much online focused on active mushrooms in England, at all. I'm getting mixed messages; places are telling me the only active mushrooms are psilocybe cubensis and psilocybe semilanceata, that as far as I'm aware only appear in Autumn.
I've read that panaeolus subbalteatus grow in Eurpoe, as well as nearly everywhere else, but would I find these during spring in Southern England? Is anyone experienced in picking these, and would know if I could find these?
All help greatly appreciated.

Yes. I'm sure subbs would be your best bet. Start looking in horseshit and well fertilized grass when the weather starts to warm up in the spring. I'm not sure when that is for you, but it's about mid-May here. Good luck!

I'll try and make a trip to where I picked the psilocybe semilanceata, which is a large area of grassland with wild horses roming on it, as well as cows. Surrounding it is also a large forest where Fly Agarics can be found; hopefully I'll find something as tempreatures are around 15 degrees (c). Is that hot enough and is it true I should go searching ater heavy rainfall?

You should go there in Autumn because it's a drop in temperature that makes them start to grow. Forget spring - you won't find any.

That is disheartening. This thread is aiming to seek an active spring mushroom in the U.K. I want another trip and I don't trust many of the chemicals contaminating the streets and people's minds at the moment.

The moon not being made of cheese is disheartening. Neil Armstrong didn't eat any, nevertheless.

These are a tropical species. They do not grow in the UK, except for in people's closet, that is.

Subbs don't fruit in the spring in the UK?

Well if you read the reply directly above my one, the one I responded to, you'll see to OP talking about Psilocybe semilanceata.

I hate having to 'work' all day. I'd love to point you to psilowiki, but it's just not useful for UK readers yet

Sounds like a good place to start.

Maybe reread his initial post:

All help greatly appreciated.
The way I read it he doesn't expect to find P. semilanceata now, but is hoping for help on where to look for Panaeolus cinctulus. The place that he found Psilocybe semilanceata at last fall isn't such a bad place to start at, either.

as a person also from south UK I'd like to know about which actives grow in spring.... but so far it doesn't sound like there's much chance.

Panaeolus cinctulus is the only active you will find right now.
