I've done these by themselves before, up to 40mg for the -met and up to 38mg for the -dmt.  I believe the -dmt to be more of a teaching/mystical type element and the -met to be more of a fun/magickal one(though of course they can retain both characteristic to a degree).

4-ho-met seems less predictable in terms of dose response.  It's less effective than some other 4-subs in altering thought patterns, and for this it may be a pretty good introductory psych.  There is a strong body buzz that's reminiscent of dpt but to a much lesser degree.  The visual element is quite apparent, particularly OE, and it is rather nice, but it's not the best attribute of the substance IMO and sometimes the visuals are'nt all too exciting. 

I believe -met's best feature is that of invoking a rapture, not only in the sense of psychedelic ecstasy but also of the perception that one actually is invoking a force/being of sorts.  In other words it is a substance of the serpent, guiding the aspirant to the realization of the three ophidian mysteries.  And along with, at least IME, the frequent sense of there being a presence makes these features of the -met state to show it to have potential as a serious psychedelic.

4-aco-dmt is rather like mushrooms as many comment upon, but what amazes me is how different the visual element is.  I know many have stated that it's similar, but i've found this to not be the case at all.  First off, let me state that the dose response curve for the visuals is very flat.  In other words, a tiny dose may provide for some surprising enhancement, but a huge dose is'nt all that much better!  I'm honestly not impressed by the -dmt visuals at all but hey, YMMV.  I've read that others have encountered the same but i've heard that far more actually do find it to have a strong visual element.  However, i've found a little bit of 2c-d to dramatically ramp this aspect up and, of course, a bit of rue goes a very long way; it really does like the rue btw   .

This one is a lot more predictable per dosage than -met.  And, other than a smoother come-up and the aforementioned visuals, it is indeed a lot like mushies.  This is the one to take if looking for ego dissolution, mental insight, or if you're going to be spending time in mediation.

Overall duration of both seem quite similar, the -met maybe dropping off a bit sooner but coming on quicker and harder as well.  Both have'nt been dramatically nausea inducing, but both have occasionally made for some uncomfortable muscle tension.

Good combos IME: dxm/-met, rue/-dmt, 2c-d/-dmt, amanita/-dmt, 2c-e/-met

Both are good to combine with ketamine, all 4-subs seem to be, but pale in comparison to 4-ho-mipt in this regard.  I'll note however that a certain bluelighter has found an IV combo of psilacetin and ketamine to provide a very drastic and unique breakthrough type state.
