Boards Of Canada persuaded a mainstream listener
    #12406979 - 04/16/10 10:46 PM (2 years, 1 month ago)

I have a friend who EXCLUSIVELY listens to the radio.  He hates listening to burned CDs of any form, of any accessibility -- if they aren't on regular pop radio (or previous pop radio he's heard from prior years).  My friends and I have tried so many different types of incredible music on him, and the best response we ever got was along the lines of indifference.  Today I was casually playing Geogaddi in my dorm and he and his/my friend popped over around "In The Annexe".  He went to lie down on a beanbag and eventually "Julie And Candy" came on.  About halfway through the song I looked over and asked him briefly, as I do many times, what he felt about the song.  He just gave the happiest and carefree rhythmic nod I ever saw in his life.  He was feeling it.  Julie And Candy by Boards Of Canada caught a mainstream listener and never let him go.

Well, awesome.  I just listened to Music Has the Right to Children tonight, and it struck me, as it does from time to time, that it's one of the best albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

Akira, you (and other fans of BoC) might like Advisory Circle if you aren't already a fan =]  (the album "other channels" is the one I've got.. it's right up your alley, seriously)

I listened to Geogaddi a little bit a few years back and wasn't really into them. My taste in music has changed pretty drastically since then, and I decided to give them another chance due to this thread. Since then I've been listening to Music Has the Right to Children non stop :datass:
