i guess one way to remedy this is to not go overkill with the chemical ferts.

i mean they are there for a reason. then no one would ever use them if they were as deadly as karode said.

with this in mind, i guess everything else will be chemical ferts except for vegetables or fruits.

compost and manure and all that other crap(no pun intended) is what i will use for my edibles.

So I have a choice it seems:

a) radioactive synthetic chemicals that will give me cancer will running off into the water
b) less radioactive organic chemicals, conveniently sourced from slaughtered animals and/or contributing to over-fishing (a big problem these days)
c) worm poo made from things made from a) and b) and hopefully one day straight organic worm poo.

I choose option C, thank you
At least for edibles anyway.

Question: If you use synthetic chems (miracle grow) when a plant is very small, long before harvesting/consuming anything.. are there still the negative health effects? Sometimes I think MG is good to get some things goin, but once established it is unnecessary. Speculate away.

hehe, guess that makes me an eco-nut. I'm cool with that though.  :flowerchild:

I'm moderate in that I understand that changing energy sources can't happen all at once, it's a slow process. It's just upsetting when there's politicians who are against a shift because of personal interests in keepin the status quo.
:offtopic:

Uhm.. back to Miracle Grow... uh... uh.. it's blue?
Something that color probably shouldn't be goin' into our foods. I'm going to at least try to water flush all the things I've used it on before eating. And try to get on making that worm-bin.

Yes man the vermicomposting is sick. I just stopped at the bait shop and got some red wigglers. Ready to start the farm again this year. Once it's not 39 degrees anymore.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we're sorry you're up there tweaking under those blankets

I guess I'm pretty lucky for some reasons.. the tropical species I can do outside, more things can be perennial, and usually no frost. But then again, I can't grow most traditional vegetables here in the summer.. just too hot and humid. And the poorest, thinnest soil full of nematodes/disease/pests.

I don't get much sun in my yard, only in specific spots do I get full sun. But these areas are visible to my nieghbors so I'm kinda limited on what I can grow ethno anyway. But the soil here isn't too bad I guess, full of moles making tunnels under your lawn stealing bulbs and potatos. And we have got a real insect invasion of japanese beetles and boxelder bugs. The whole side of my house will get covered in those boxelder bugs I spray it with the hose and they just make a huge colony on an object in your yard, that looks like a red crawling blob. And the Japanese beetles seem to think all my blackberry and raspberry bushes are good beetle orgy spots, and eat my berries. So does anyone know anygood organic pesticides that will get rid of these bugs and keep my berries nice and edible and not poisonous. I already know of nicotiana being a good insecticide, but I don't trust the nicotine, and I would like to know a good pesticide for cannabis. Cannabis can get nicotine disease am I right?

as for the ferts imo i think its also a matter of sustainability, i mean if you growing veges your gana have vege scraps so why pay to throw them away and then go buy some ferts from the shop?? i started my worm bin 6months ago and i think everyone should have one, nothing beats worm poo t as fert.

I live with my father and I try to explain to him time and time again that we shouldn't be putting organic materials like veg waste down the garbage disposal and in the trash can. And that we don't need to buy as much fertilizer and soil as we do (he does a little gardening himself, and fertilizes his yucky st.augustine grass). And he just looks at me like I'm a rambling hippie and that none of what I'm saying is true or worth doing:rolleyes: When I cook I throw it all in the yard. Once I start a worm-bin maybe he will be more encouraged to recycle the waste, I hope.

Nicotine works great for mj. Only other members of the nightshade family are a concern.
