Number one marijuana dealer in Lubbock
County serving prison time
February 24, 2010 - kcbd.com
Lubbock, TX (KCBD) – Thanks to officers who you will never see in
uniform the number one marijuana dealer in Lubbock county is out of
business and behind bars. Officials said Wednesday they took down
21-year-old and Monterey High School graduate Joseph Sevart's drug ring
last spring after undercover narcotics officers watched him move drugs
and cash around the south plains for a year.
"Our guys out on the streets heard stories about a guy who was dealing
hydroponic marijuana, so we tried to get to him but couldn't get a
strong lead," said Lt. Roy Bassett with the LPD narcotics unit. Their
lead came from outside Lubbock and for almost a year officers kept a
close eye on Sevart.
"DPS and LPD narcotics took off the number one marijuana dealer in
Lubbock county," said District Attorney Matt Powell. "We don't know how
long he's been doing it on this level, but he's been dealing since the
8th grade," said Lt. Bassett.
Sevart was arrested during a day long sweep back in May along with five
other people. Almost $300,000 in cash, cars, houses and electronics
were seized. Powell says two of the main suspects 21-year-old Brad
Townley and 20-year-old James Blackstock worked under Sevart.
Police say he imported about 20 pounds of hydroponic marijuana a week
into Lubbock. On the streets, that amount is valued around $4,000 a
pound. Officers say Sevart distributed the drugs to his mid-level
dealers and would made thousands of dollars each week.
Officials have plans to put that money to good use. "What that money
goes to is equipment and training for our officers and I love that the
dope dealers are paying for it," said Powell.
Sevart is currently serving a 5-year sentence in the Wheeler unit.
Powell says his sentence isn't long enough but it is the maximum
penalty the law allows. Powell credits the undercover officers for
presenting him with such a strong case and will continue to crack down
on drug dealers.
"If you are dealing illegal narcotics we are going to go after
everything you own," said Powell. Police say they can tell a difference
on the streets now that Sevart's ring no longer exists. Shortly after
his arrest, officer intercepted 150 pounds of marijuana and ecstasy
intended for Sevart.

So the cop loves that "dope dealers" are paying for his equipment? Doesn't that just show that they need people to sell drugs?
-------------------- I didn't get turned on I just got turned
I wasn't as aroused as I was concerned
for each one of 'em I've hurt
and every time I've been burned
I've got a lot to teach but even more to learn
Is this actually news? I believe Houston PD busts a 20 pounder a week.

What a moron. It's idiots like this that are keeping it from becoming a non-problem, as if were one in the first place.
-------------------- Alice I wonder if I've been changed in the night? Let me think. Was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the next question is 'Who in the world am I?' Ah, that's the great puzzle!

20 lbs might not be a huge bust but if he was doing that every week it was quite a bit when you think about it, can you imagine how many people it would take to smoke 20 lbs a week, he had a large business going. Not to mention pulling off selling 20 lbs a week for a year you'd be fucking loaded. Especially if it's legitly dank weed he was probably making atleast a grand on every pound if he wasn't he needed a better source.
Sounds to me like he was getting greedy moving that much weight for such a long period of time without taking breaks.
