SOOOOO GLAD to see this forum.
4 years ago I bought an old(1800's) home, balloon frame, Plaster + Lath, Knob and tube mad motherfucker of a project.
Since, we have gutted most of it, rewired, re-framed, insulated, re-finished, re-roofed and replaced most windows.
We did everything we could by ourselves. Otherwise we hired pros and worked along side of them to learn.
My knowledge is basic,but always willing to offer what I know.
I know this community must be rife with professionals in all sorts of trades and construction, etc. So I certainly will be taking advantage of you.

I have been in construction for over 30 years, primarily carpentry but also general contracting and construction management. Other trades I am somewhat competent in include concrete work, tile work, plumbing and electric. I'm a shitty taper.
I'm also not the least bit shy about saying "I don't know" if I don't or if I think the information given is insufficient to make a judgment. I've seen a lot of diagnoses go wrong and people get in way over their heads. It isn't pretty.
