that you fixed by yourself instead of shelling out the money for someone else to do it, or a new replacement. pics would be nice, especially for the ghetto repair jobs or jury-rigged shit.

I just spent yesterday afternoon replacing the lights on my 98 chevy malibu. i was down to 1/2 headlamps, and 1/4 brakelights. after an hour of cursing in front of o'donnels auto parts store i finally fixed that shit. I feel like a pimp in a car that has working lights

I wish that I had pics, but we have been getting my grandparent's old house on the market.

Last thing, I have been working damn hard on making the old wood look like it's alive.  Previously I had torn  up the carpet and we hired dudes to put in new wood floors.

No, but I probably should have.  There are places on the wall where the wood unbelievably discolored because of the picture frames.  All I did was use the "liquid Gold" (or whatever it's called) shit.  Total fail at doing anything towards the discolored wood.

I'll try and get pics this weekend, so I can get further suggestions.

Nice, and you saved yourself some cash for sure. I don't trust any mechanic, never know how much they'll try to screw you for.

I swapped the stereo deck from our old car to our 'new' car and found that they charged us $20-25 for a cable harness that they didn't even install, they just spliced the wires. Never again will I have an audio shop work on my car.

Our car was running rough awhile ago and I replaced the sparkplugs, it ran 100% better. The old car was taken to the shop and they replaced the spark plugs and wires costing just under $200. When just putting in new sparkplugs would have fixed the problem for maybe $5-10 at most.

Moral of the story, DIY on your vehicle whenever possible because they will not only charge you for shit you don't need, but they won't install it.

Just installed new track lighting in 2 rooms along with new ceiling fans.
Total cost for equipment was around $600.00 from Lowes. Probably would have been
$800.00 for just labor took me a Saturday afternoon.

And I did a job for a friend who,s dishwasher was making a bad grinding sound.
Sounded like the water pump bad. He even went and was getting ready to fork over
$600.00 for new one with labor.
I pulled old one out, flipped upside down so I could jump power leads,
ended up taking it loose from water pump where it meets the rubber pick up pan on bottom and turned out it was a large broken piece of drinking glass.

It had lodged it self in right where water pump picks up water and rubbing like a mother,
took glass out. Put together hooked back up.Still running fine a year later,  and I told him to buy me a gram of weed and 12 pak of beer for labor. Saved him about $500.00. Took about an hour to do repairs.

My entire house is diy. It had been abandoned for 4 years before I moved in. Bought it for seven thousand, no carpet, no running water, crack from the living room ceiling to the sky, and no working appliances. Since then its been quite the project.

The guy that lived in it before me was holding the plumbing together with zip ties.

A house cost you 7k? Holy shit what is the sq. Ft of the property?

Nice repairs btw. I don't bring my car to mechanics either. They always pick out problems, years later my car is still fine. Last guy tried to tell me I had an oil leak that he could fix for like 800

The last thing I fixed was my washing machine. It wouldnt spin so I bought a few repair pieces. It was UNBELIEVABLY simple. Took less then 30 minutes to take off the outer shell, take out the motor, add the part and put it back together.

I had never done anything like this before.

Now I remember what it was called.. motor coupling. It's two, 3 prong plastic pieces and a rubber center. Its fits between the motor and the transmission. The old coupling one was not the same and must have been a problem for a lot of people since they are manufacturing these new ones.

Hitting jumps on an ATV not made for jumps... Broken yoke (like a u-joint). Decided to just tear it down and go through it my self. In the garage, you also see my DIY wood stove made with a $35 kit and a steel drum. It works damn well for that price. The pic is of an ATV that didn't break. I don't jump it like that anymore. Shop said it would be $400 just to fix the yoke, a $50 part. The rest is labor since the whole rear axle and swing arm must come off to get to it.

a better material for those wood stoves is an old electric water heater,
you have about 3x the thickness in steel on the tanks and everything is
easy to plug with NPT fittings

I think literberry is the only person I've ever seen with a garage uglier than mine.

Yea, I looked for an old water heater tank, but didn't get my hands on one. Maybe by next winter.

Recently I found this pocket bike by a dumpster near my house, but it was pretty beat up. I took it completely apart, and cleaned everything especially the carburetor.  It looked like who ever had it, used it without an air filter.  One of the engine mounts was broken off, so i welded that back on then painted the frame. I had to get new brake cables and handles, plus a new throttle controller and cable. Everything is back together (except the fiberglass housing, I'm still repairing cracks before painting it), and it runs great. Its only a 49cc engine, so its not to fast but still fun.

I also made my whole glass working set up, with exception of my torch and a few tools.

I made the chip board shelf stand thing(i don't know what to call it lol) that my tools are hanging on to block the wind a little. I made all the selves and most of my tools are either machined graphite pieces or modified household items.
This is one of the more useful things that i have made. It has 2 bearings side by side on an adjustable stand to support glass rods and tubes as i rotate them in the flame.  One of these online is about $65 plus shipping. I bought the material and welded it together for about $20.

I also made both of my kilns to keep things warm or anneal finnished pieces.

I made a tek on how to build a kiln here if anyone is interested

nice work BF, I just checked out your kiln tek and I think I'll be
building one, albeit a larger one for heat treating steel

I built a camera mount for a kiln a couple of years back so the operators
could take a look inside... one of the more complicated pieces I've done
