so after discovering penkote and its fungicidal properties i decided against using it altogether. i researched http://www.seedland.com/seedland/info/penkoted.html, and they were saying penkote is a time-released thing so my guess was simply rinsing with water wouldn't help. however, thinking about it, wouldn't some kind of detergent like dish detergent work to get rid of this antifungal coating?
any experiences with using dish detergent as a method of cleaning seeds that are coated with synthetic agents such as penkote? i have heard some people using it to clean morning glory seeds, because sometimes they are laced with unwanted, inedible chemicals.

Good decision, that grain is no good for mushroom culture and there is no way of cleaning it, you will also find grain that looks alright with no visible coating but it is treated and is also no good, you need to read the packaging until you find one with no fungicides or other treatments added! inski.
