Golden oysters on bleach sterilized cottonseed hulls

Here are my first runs of golden oysters. Each 3ft x 11" log uses 2 large bags of WBS spawn. The cottonseed hulls are bleach bathed with 8cups per 100gal tank for at least 4hrs, then unloaded and drained into tubs. Bleach is rinsed out with hose (not required but more so that I dont have to breathe in fumes).
Pics of day 5:

A 2ft log with same ratio of spawn day 5:

My experiences so far with the bleach bath method is that at least 2 large bags of spawn are needed to colonize fast enough. Cottonseed hulls are nice for colonization because the spawn mixes very evenly into them (I use a 8cu ft electric cement mixer).
The cottonseed hulls retain much more water than straw when drained, enough that a dunking before fruiting should be unnecessary. Also because of the extra water the logs began producing a great deal of metabolic heat (my king oysters with same method on straw dont produce any excess heat). They definitely felt close to 90F to the touch (in a 73f room). I put a fan on them to cool things down, which helped. Now at day 5 they aren't so hot but definitly still around 80f. Gold oysters seems to be able to take higher incubation heat than other oysters.

Well it seems the extra heat is screwing things up of course. I had to toss 2 logs out that had bacterial contam. Heat is definitely an issue when working with large amounts of spawn in bulk. So yesterday I moved all my logs downstairs to my basement, hung them up, and made 4 new gold oyster logs and hung them in the basement as well (my back is sore today...). Hopefully I will be able to salvage the logs I moved and the new ones will have no problems. I had 4 bleach bathed king oyster straw logs in the upstairs room as well that were doing just fine with no heat buildup until the gold oysters heated the room up to 75f and then a couple king logs got green mold, after fully colonized, where they were hottest.

From the area grainery. They have everything I could every want. Hulls there though cost me $8.99 a 45lb bag but its the only place to get them and the best sub for golden oysters.

Another thing about the cottonseed logs,... they don't drain well on their sides causing the bottoms to get soggy (most of the bacterial contam was all along the bottom). Best to hang them right from the start and poke holes in the bottom end of tube.

I think you did everything very well, you just didn't place them on any sort of racking as I can tell and you should have had a lot more vent holes, more even than one would put on a straw log, because of the added moisture of the cottonseed...the warmth may have been a great thing, so long as you were doing longer quick open/shuts of the poly and made for more drainage on the bottom of the log...otherwise they look like they did really well really fast, they just couldn't breath
