 Halo sucks my left nut

So there's a little story behind this: a few months ago I was back home in Denver, and a friend of mine gave me his old copy of Halo 3 because he didn't want it any more. (This should have been my first warning sign that it's not the best game) I figured that it couldn't be that bad and accepted the game, flew back home to Iowa and forgot about it. So today I finished classes and decided to try it out... big mistake. One of the worst 1st person shooters I've played recently. It was unresponsive, the online play was ludicrously one-dimensional and full of 8-9 year old kids... maybe I'm spoiled by COD but damn...

I liked it. The multiplayer matchmaking was great for console games, however since they launched ODST and the other spinoffs i have not given the franchise any more time or money.
The multiplayer community has also been infiltrated by the <13 crowd or the "MLG PROS" that roam the servers like a plauge of self fellating locusts.
However like i said the matchmaking and multiplayer options (like the ability to play 4 players same screen online) make it a classic.

it's an awesome game. it pretty much revolutionized FPS controls and multiplayer on consoles.

COD perfected the FPS control scheme that halo introduced, so going back to halo feels kind of strange (namely, no aiming down your weapons sight). halo still does many things extremely well, like the seamless vehicle combat and theater mode.

i LOVED halo when it came out, i was in high school, my mom got me halo 2 for X-mas, and i snuck in her room, and traded the discs out haha. never played halo 3 tho, dont have a 360. yet.

Halo and CoD may be the games with the most media coverage, but they really didn't revolutionise anything as far as I know; just bought it all to the masses. Correct me if I'm wrong as I'm not too hot on this topic, but Halo didn't add much over the original titans of online FPS, for example Unreal Tournament and Quake, at least not to my knowledge.
And I'm convinced that CoD wasn't the first FPS where you could look down the ironsights...

I used to enjoy H2 and H3 quite a bit... It's an interesting story, design and execution.
however, it got REALLY fucking lame when kiddies were on all the time, and EVERY single time any of my friends wanted to do ANYTHING, it revolved around halo. Lets drink! and play halo (Dralo) lets smoke... and play halo! lets play halo... At parties!!!!!!

I get fed up with the amount of 13 year olds on CoD myself... the only way to really get away from them is to play it on the PC (probably the same for Halo), but I just don't want to lose that pickup-and-playability.

I usually play late at night and during the day on weekdays. Helps filter out the kiddies a lot. Though.. late at night I usually get my ass kicked. But that's alright. It's probably helping me since I now usually finish in the top 3 of my team.

i dont know what you guys are talkin about. i dont really like the single player of halo, just cuz it bores me, then again the only single player first person shooters i like are Half-Life 1 and 2 and Fallout 3, and thats an RPG... i love halo 3 multiplayer. did you not like it because you werent very good? when i first started playing i wasnt good and lost alot, and i didnt enjoy it at all. then i got better and it became awesome. i find that the multiplayer is so well balanced and it takes quite a bit of skill in all areas to be good at it, like aiming, knowing the maps, and just overall strategy. before halo 3 i loved playing Counter Strike Source. I dont like comparing games like COD and Counter Strike to halo just because halo isnt 1 shot kills, it feels very different to me. and as for the 13 year olds, you can mute people, and i tend to just play with friends anyway and we always strike up humorous conversations with strangers and just fuck around
