 Grain LC Life?

So, I made up a grain LC about a month and a half ago. I used it to make 10 BRF cakes and then I put it in the fridge. I was going to use it to make up 10 more tomorrow but the color is looking different from when I made it. When I made it, it was a light yellowish color and now it is a brownish color? any Ideas? Did it die? Should I just make a new one? or test it on these jars just to see if it works? Searching the forums it said many times that they will last for a very long time in the fridge but I didn't see anything about it becoming discolored.

Should be ok, but shoot a test jar.
Color change might be nothing, or it could be a contam or something.

Doubtful it is a contam. The lid is sealed with tyvek and the jars I made with this lc look AWESOME. I think only made this 4 weeks ago lol. because I made it 2 days before I did the jars and the jars colonized in 2 1/2 weeks and have been sitting for a week at 100% Anyway. I am going to use it to knock my jars up tomorrow. If it works than right on. If it doesn't then I only wasted like $5 worth of sub. lol

I have some grain LC in the refrigerator from 2007 and it's still good. I have some other cultures that have been stored on distilled water for 8 or 9 years now and still good. That's longer than master slants last, depending on species.

YEARS  I might have to make some more anyway lol
The thing about this one is that the sterile water in the jar has no nutes so the mycelium has nothing to eat. Which is why I thought it might be dead. Maybe it is living off the little pieces of rye grain that shook off when I made it? Guess I will just have to wait and see if these jars colonize and if not I will make a new one and start over.
