How many of you have a NetfliX account and what do you think of the service?
I'm about to start a free trial on my ps3.... for what it would cost to rent one movie from blockbuster gives you unlimited movies every month, it def seems like a good deal

i had it for 2 months. the turnaround was pretty bad, sometimes it would take 4-5 days to get a movie after sending yours back, and i got a cracked disc once. the online streaming is awesome though.

Yeah i did the trial as well.... Cancelled shortly after.
I was certainly more interested in the online streams rather than the send-outs. The selection of online streams was entirely too small... Most of their stock in available thru send-outs only...
So to take your own needs into consideration.. for me it was a no go, but you might dig it.... Check out the selection thoroughly before the 3 days

I've used Netflix for 3-4 years now. I love it. It is a good deal compared to driving to Blockbuster and renting one. I recently got that Netflix PS3 streaming disc too, which is awesome, except the streaming selection kinda sucks but I can always find something to watch. I also upgraded my account to BlueRay, which is another $2 a month but very worth it. Good stuff.

I have Netflix and I like it.
Being able to stream Netflix Instant through my xbox 360 is the best thing about it.
Their shipping times are pretty quick too.

I love netflix! If you live around a major city the turn around is super quick usual withing 48-72 hours. Its cheaper and has a great selection for all us rare movie junkies

i would say it's the most legitamite way of watching movies. It's a great concept and the service is good. I lived close to the distribution center and had a 2-3 day turn around after sending the movie in.
you'll find yourself building a huge ass list of movies.
the streaming stuff is still very lacking. They stream a lot of very old movies and documentaries compared to the stuff you might actually want to watch though.

i really like netflix...been using about 16 months...i've found the turn-around to be 2 days. if you make sure to drop your movies in the mailbox in the AM, you should have a new movie within 2 days --unless you live in some really out of the way place.
its much better and much cheaper than on-demand.

It works great with stuff in the mail, but they have NOTHING for XBOX 360. Its the same shit all the time. I got it thinking I could stream most of their catalog. They give you maybe 3%.

I thought the streaming used to be pretty lacking when it first came out. But they have added a TON of movies since then. It has a decent selection now...
I've discoverd lots of new movies through 'Netflix Instant' that I never would have rented through the mail.

It is one of the best things to have happened to me in the past few years. All the video places around me have really limited selections, so it was the only option, really. They didn't even have Apocalypse Now! Also, Netflix has an impressive selection of foreign/art-house/documentary films if you're into that.
Once you've been using it for a while and start rating movies, you'll start to get suggestions based off of your ratings. I've discovered a lot of great movies this way. The suggestions become pretty well tailored to your tastes after a hundred ratings or so.
As for the streaming, the selection isn't that great. I haven't noticed any particular pattern in the releases they choose to stream, but don't count on it for many big movies. I hate watching shit on the computer, so I can't add much here. That said, there are probably hundreds of movies to stream from the PS3, Xbawks, and (just announced for this Spring) Wii. No, I don't work for the company; I've just enjoyed it a lot these past two years.
EDIT: You can stream all of Lost, btw.

Been using for at least 4 years, perhaps 5, even 6? how long has it been around anyway, I can barely remember not using it. I love how little of a pain in the ass it is. I live near a fullfilment cnter and turnaround is super fast. I swear I have gotten returns the very next day, certainly two as a rule, after sending.
Sometimes I'll mail a disc back, plannning to tweak my queue to push something to the top, only to discover they have already processed the day's mail and shipped before I had a chance. Overall Netflix
Oh and fuck you Blockbuster

netflix is pretty sweet, one time i cracked a disk pretty bad by stepping on it, i was like fuck. i decided to do the right thing, went to their website and went to the troubleshooting part, there was a link for broke/missing disk or something like that, i clicked it and paid the $15 since i broke it.
then i got to thinking i should have just sent it in and let them decide, so i didn't have any use for the disk anyway, and sent it back just for giggles to see what they would do, i got a thankyou email and they credited my account without me asking or talking to them at all. so they are pretty cool in my book, but they should be since i forget to return my movies sometimes for a whole month so they make some loot off me
as for the ps3 streaming, it is pretty neat but it kinda sucks a bit because you gotta have their netflix activation disk in your ps3 to stream anything, it kinda takes the fun out of streaming movies a bit

That sucks.
On the 360 you don't need any kind of disc. It's just on Xbox Live.

My neighbor has the streaming and it rocks. I can't help but think though, that something has to be a bit lacking with the streams. How is it possible that Netflix has that much bandwidth to be able to stream 1080p HD movies? They've gotta use some type of compression.
Once I get a house and overhaul my home theatre I'll sign up.

I love netflix. It's amazing how many thing the online streaming runs on. My dad bought a samsung bluray player and when we turned it on there was an option for streaming netflix, as well as pandora and youtube( the thing is awesome).
The streaming content is pretty lacking although convenient. I've never had any problems with bad disks or bad turnaround on the delivers. I still receive the DVD rather than blueray disks because I like to rip the movie of the disk and my computer doesn't have a blueray drive.
