**THE OFFICIAL FLORIDA MUSHROOM SEASON THREAD 2010** 3

I figured since no one else has started on, I would. I went out to a field close by , and had pretty good luck. This cold weather is slowing the growth, but not killing it. I also ran across this pig that was killed by some other animal. It had 2 puncture marks about 3 inches apart. You can see one of the 2 punctures in the neck area. I was thinking a Florida Panther? What do you think.

More pictures. Sorry for the poor quality I am still using my sisters camera. As you can see this cold weather is killing a few. I also found a orange tree out about a mile in to the woods. I thought that was awesome. I now have lunch waiting on me when ever I want.

Are these gyms active. I have never found them so stocky and, thick. They where growing on a rotten pine tree branch. I don't have picture of spore print, but it is pretty much the same color as the mushroom. Rusty brown. If they are active, has anyone had any first hand experience with them? Thank ahead

It was still kinda warm. That scared me I was thinking we walked up on it, and scared a big cat away like a panther. So every noise after seeing that I was thinking I was getting stocked by a Panther. I grew up a hunter, and never seen a pig get ripped in half. It's rib bones were chewed.

Nice finds!!! Cool gyms too - i see no persistant annular zone? so they aren't luteus or true blg's - saps maybe - test for greenish staining when placed in fridge overnite - its worth a shot!!

I just looked and found about 10 fields about 30 min from you. Take highway 60 to 275 take it north east to all the State Preserves. They are all right around those. In your case you have to travel a little to find the fields your looking for.

I have a question, if you found a water trough could you put spores in so the cows drink mass amounts? Are spores dangerous in large amounts? I found where they put grain bins, mineral licks, and the water trough. I was thinking about putting 20 to 30 spore prints in some water to pore in and on it. Would that be dangerous at all to the cows?

Its not dangerous to the cows however the spores fall to the bottom of the water relatively quickly and in a few hours they would all be stuck to the bottom of the water trough.

What about poring them on the mineral licks? I have about 30 pieces of paper with about 10 prints each. I printed them for this reason. I thought it would increase the amount grown in each turd. I go to one field were I know the owner. So he wouldn't care if I did this, as long as it was safe for his cows. His cows are for maintaining property only.

Nice way to kick off the 2010 Florida thread Cubeeater!
Nice Pan Cyan shots. Crazy something killed that hog besides a person in our woods. Makes me think safety for a second.

Slice up an apple and smear a small portion of the print onto each slice. If I were a cow I'd eat an apple slice without hesitation.

As I was walking away from the area the pig was in. I heard something 4 legged walking around , but could not see it. As I was walking I could hear it walking , and when I stopped it stopped a few steps later. Thats what made me think a big cat was watching me. I am now going to buy bear spray, and carry it in the fields with me.

Thats exactly what happened to me. I was squarral hunting with my friend, we split up in the woods then i was alone (or i thought i was) walking around and after a while, i started hearing foot steps when i was walking, when i stopped, it stopped. I thought it was my friend fucking with me so i just hauled ass back to the truck as fast as i could and jumped in the ditch and waited. I could here him coming closer and closer and what came out was a fuckin panther, it was coming for me so i shot it in the face with bird shot. It let out a loud ass screem like a woman and ran back in the woods. Now I am verry positive that was a panther that was stalking you.
