Not exactly what I have stated, but something like it. Like, look at the picture of a galaxy. You see all this halogenated gas. Hot gas. Electrically charged gas. Like, HPS. Gives off a color of light.
Aurora Borealis is a very real phenomenon. So, we had an aurora borealis as an effect from something happening that wasn't observed to have happen. An accidental thing. Dark matter, or somethin, ya dig?
So you think it's ridiculous?

Maybe the atom smashing caused a particle to fly through space undetected, then fizzle out in the charged atmosphere above Norway? Like, say this particle. Unknown, still. A neutron, let's say. It is mantled and didn't slow down while travelling from the south to the north, along a magnetic field line, hit some charged air, lost control, and spun, creating blue photons, then 'crashed' into electrically dense air. Electrons surrounding the neutron break off symmetrically.
So, that's the most likely thing in my mind, at this point.. What say you?
I say - how can that possibly be the most likely thing in your mind?
dude it was a rocket. a red one.

Well, it's just that your hypothesis relies on so many half truths that you might as well be writing a fiction plot. Not to mention that I seriously doubt that much of that would physically happen.
