Happy Holidays ALL!

I'm excited! I got a nice order of blotter art this weekend and wanted to share some of the pics. I don't sell blotter art, so none of the sheets below are for sale, but I do break them all down and use them in my art. So I wanted to capture the sheets before I tear into them tonight to start making art.

If you've got any of your own blotter art, post it up here also, I am always looking for blotter art. Of course I've got a lot more than this and also some very interesting signed pieces, I may post those up later, but here is this weekend's order (got it from some different sources)

Oh I do that for a few reasons, not sure if any of them make sense, but I tend to follow my instincts in life...

1. Out of respect for other people's art. Blotter art is definitely subject to counterfeiting like any other artform, but since many times the artists are purposefully not known, sometimes authentication can be difficult outside certain circles. I was worried if I just posted it up as is, then it may not be appreciated by the artists (whomever they are - respect!)

(Note - for my own art, you'll notice I never watermark it. If someone wants to copy my work, put it up or on their computer, that to me is an honor (not ripping it off to sell as their own, but you know...). Also since my stuff is mixed media, even if you print it off, you don't really have the image or the blotters on it...so it's all good)

2. I figured if I put something with my username, then people would know I'm not just copy/pasting images from the net (not that I really care, but whatever )

3. I like to rep the Shroomery, so if these pics get archived on Google images or whatever, then people will see the Shroomery.org reference and maybe check our community out - spread the love!

4. I have a creative impulse that won't let me rest! It got me going to create the little "watermark" I printed it out and cut it out and placed it over the blotter before scanning (I wanted to scan so you all could see nice clear pics!) (This impulse used to keep me up with chemistry and mycology, but I have been able to cultivate that energy into other aspects of my life and still pay honor to the psychedelic community.

Basically I had a kid about 5 years ago, and I wanted to be with him. I have a few friends that are not with their family right now because of legal complications and I did not want that for myself. I have a friend doing 40 years (Franklin, manufacture/chemist) and another doing life, the only other person besides Pickard to get life for LSD (Rudd - conspiracy to distribute). Wow that was off track, but anyway, part of the reason why I now make art

Thanks man! This idea has evolved over many years.I used to just buy the books of 1000 or 900 hits and break those down, frame them and give them away to friends for the holidays as a unique gift. So each person would get 100 hits...you know I should make up a few of those again...

Then some of my friends would tell me I should sell them. So I went out and brought some on tour with me one year. We rolled into one show and set up with some family (as in my brother-in-law of sorts) on shakedown. Now my brother-in-law of sorts has been on tour since 1982 and is a bit...different. Awesome people, but you know he interacts with the world on a different level and it makes people either really uncomfortable (he's loud and personable) or they relate...So he's on shakedown yelling "get your LSD artwork!" pretty loudly. A few minutes later I hear a scuffle in the middle of shakedown (it was super packed, West Virginia somewhere) and two guys are tackling this guy. After a few tense and intense minutes things settled down.

Apparently they were undercovers and had come up to him saying he was under arrest for selling LSD. He told them to show him a badge, and they tried to cuff him without showing ID. So he struggled with them because he was pissed someone was trying to cuff him and he felt they should show ID first...so they all ended up on the ground, a bunch more undercovers came over, and it got a bit heated.

My girl ran over to try to get things straightened out. They had my friend sat down on the corner cuffed. I came over and explained the deal. they asked to see more of the art a bunch was framed, but a BUNCH was all broken down LOL. The cop grabbed the framed print, and was like "Oh so this is just artwork, no drugs? Damn, you mind if I show this to the guys? I want them to know this stuff is okay."

I said "Sure keep it"

And sure enough he went around and told all the cops this stuff was okay in the frames...wow:)

We got my friend back and went back to selling the stuff. (This whole thing happened within about 10 feet of my "booth" which at that time was a blanket on the ground. He got a pretty banged up arm and a good story to tell the waitress later at IHOP at 2AM


And over the years I ended up doing some drawings and putting the blotter with the drawings. About a year and a half ago I was at a Widespread concert on some molly and mushrooms and I had the vision that I should do a more involved drawing, something I could be proud of and that had more meaning. I came up with the LSD Mandala;

You can download the PDF description on that page to see the results I came up with there are all kinds of LSD information encoded within the mandala itself and the image as a whole as well.

Then about the same time I found the stuff to make the pendants and I have been hard at work ever since.

I'm working on a new drawing now, but it takes me a while and it's busy this time of year where I live...

To Sower; Hey there man! If you are in the US, I can highly recommend blotterart.com and key-z.com both have quality stuff and fair prices. I think both places have sales going on right now for the holidays

Yeah I source things from all over - this is not one coming from the regular blotter art sites - so totally possible. I'll get in contact shortly and I'm sure it'll get fixed (at least the missing print part!)

I'm not the best at real-world business so I am totally learning the art selling thing from the ground floor up

But with hard work I've found that I can sell everything I make. I do a lot of quality control, so if I don't like how it looks, I won't offer it for sale.

For example with the LSD Mandala that I drew, when I made it I created it as a series of 200 prints. I thought it would take forever to sell 200 prints. However now I have only about 40 left, and I'm being a bit sparing with them. I wanted to make sure I have some to bring to the MAPS conference in April, so I haven't been working the prints as hard. Who would've thought!

I'm working on a DMT piece now, and I have a lot of ideas on how to use the artwork - one of which is to silk screen the image onto cool art papers with glow in the dark and blacklight reactive inks - my problem is that I've now become an art addict...

and now without further ado, the new prints I got - now looking through everything, I should have plenty to make some new art...
