It's about the same for me, no matter what type of tub. 10-14 days until the first flush, then 10-14 between flushes.

At this point, it's a solid block of mycelium. It's not going to be bothered if the lid is open and some spores fall in. So mist and fan all you like.
Seems to me like a given tub gets into a rhythm or cycle, and flushes in a pattern.

One way to get it to flush like that is to pick the first flush all at once, instead of trickling it out. Wait until it's ready, then pick everything at once and dunk. Second flush should come in more evenly.

Is it necessary to perform a dunk for a monotub? Can I let it sit and wait until next flush?

In my experiences, second and third flushes are quicker than waiting for the first flush. Can't give you exact numbers because I don't keep track, but in general they are quicker for me.

An Igloo cooler with a drain spout would work nice.

You could always just cut a small hole near the bottom and cover it with some water-proof duct-tape. When it is time to drain, remove tape, drain, replace tape. Loose substrate would still spill out though, without some sort of filter/sieve in place.

You can actually measure it. Weigh them fresh, weigh them dry. That's how much water you need to put back.
