i would let em sit just a little longer. until most of those veils break, then go for it. watch them closely over the next day or so, should be good.

nice pics!
i usually let mine keep growing until they've dropped most their spores and the caps are wavy and nearly vertical... im not sure if i fully believe that they are "more potent" when they weigh half as much and it saddens me to kill a beautiful living specimen in the prime of its life...sure they dont get that much bigger but...
come on those gills are about to drop spores and you want to kill them! that would be like someone killing you the day before you lost your virginity...
you could always let them grow until their fully mature.
but some people say the active ingredients stop being produced once the veils break....ive never noticed a potency loss or difference or anything like that ... sooo its also mostly a matter of preference concerning what you want them to look like once dry

would the spores dropping on my sub increase my next flush (sorry if thats a dumb question)
i agree though, i like to let my mushies grow to full capacity.
These dont seem to want to open very easily, that's why I didn't know if this was a quality of this specific strain or not. either way, its only a couple of days till the caps open (hopefully)

i can't find any data on the topic, but according to a lot of folks around here,
some of those mushrooms might be at their maximum potency level right about now according to your pics

PICK THEM.
BTW those look very good. If you do pick them and are careful with the sub and not let spores drop. You will get more flushes from them.

I harvested half the tub this morning. It was all I could fit in the dehydrator
here's what it looked like before i started picking.

here's the trays loaded with goodness

and still half the tub to pick and dry. I'm gonna need a bigger scale

Anybody want to take a crack at the final weight?

nice tub. whats the specs and the buildup of the fruiting substrate? id say 4oz because anything less than like 3 for a monotub is not good.
thank god you have a dehydrator... i would just leave em out and itd take like 3 days
