yeah just dont show fear, ill have cows/horses follow me all around the pastures i hunt, its a sign that the owners of the pasture take care of their animals, the animals see a human and say "hey look a free handout" because they are used to how their owners treat them.

if the owners of the livestock are assholes then the livestock will be aggressive as well, ive been farming a long time and have always seen this to be true.

yes that makes more sense, ya know its a proven fact that cows and horses will graze subbs and cubes that grow in the pastures they frolic in, even returning to the areas the mushrooms are growing after the rain to look for more to eat, how cool is that!

well i swear one charged at me and stopped close by, idk why she did it

The cow was just playing with you.  Cows are mostly docile,  I grew up on or around quite a few dairy farms.  Most cows you do not have to be afraid of.  If they start charging you they will 90% of the time stop about 15 to 20 feet away.  The only cows that you have to be afraid of are the pregnant ones or the ones with calves.  The calves only stay with the moms for a few days then they move them to their own little pens where they are bottle fed.  I have never really been charged by a cow.  Sure you get the cow that is spooked and running down the pens and your in the way, but never has a cow just decided to sprint at me and hit me.  The cows always run at you then stop.  The most dangerous place to be around a cow is directly behind them where they can get spooked and kick you, which really hurts.  I have been around thousands of cows and in many cow pastures herding them or just playing in the fields, over many years with no problems.

There is nothing to be afraid of, plus they are not very agile.  If they are running at you and you think that they are really going for it let them get semi close then run at a right angle they can't turn for shit they weigh like 1000 lbs.  They will blow right past where you were and when they noticed you moved and try to correct their run they will slide and probably fall.  It's pretty funny when they fall.

Might as well join in the necro

First time I went shrooming I encountered a bull, dunno why they had a bull out in the field... I saw something moving so I shined my flashlight on it, thought "whew... just a cow, duh." Then I thought, "Waaaaait... were those horns?" Shined my light on it again, yep, those were horns. And it was not happy about being blinded, started grunting and stomping the ground like it was about to charge.

Never ran so fast in my life. (Well except for this one time when I had to kill a cottonmouth with an axe, but that's another story.) It followed me all the way out of the field.

So now I make sure to figure out where the cows are beforehand.
