 First time smoking

Hey, never done anything before really. Only drugs are prescribed, etc.
I was thinking about trying one of those herb blends, like pep spice. Just cause I never do anything "crazy" like it seems most people do and it seems like something that wouldnt be too crazy but definitely something out of my normal ways.
Anyway, if I get this stuff, I was wondering how I should try to smoke it, how much, etc. I dont want to get freakishly sick or anything. I dont want to buy an actual bong, but maybe homeade or should I buy some kind of cigarette papers from the gas station?
Anyway thanks for any advice here.

It might be impossible for you to comprehend; but once people get to a certain age and have never done any nonprescription drugs they have no idea where to get such things or who to get them from.
I wasnt one of those people, but Ive seen it in action. A guy comes up to you nervously. "hey...uh...so...do you have any marijuana?" You instantly mistake him for a cop when really he just doesnt know how/where to look.

Ah.. the first time smoking weed; I can reemember it like it was yesterday!

Anyway, if you are curious to try that spice stuff I should warn you that it is more potent than actual weed and could make for a scarier first time experience.

Exactly.
If you insist on dabbling with herbals, be a bit careful with salvia divinorum, if you come into contact with it. It tends to be a bit more 'real' (or unreal) than the other herbals 
But really, just smoke some pot. In the worst case, you'll come out a better person.

Spice more potent? I smoked Spice Silver, it was crap.
If you don't want anything illegal, do a thujone extraction from wormwood, I'm stoned on it right now!  But nothing can compensate for good ol' cannabis!

Just get some weed man. The herbal things are for the most part, a waste. Smoking actual marijuana is not any worse for you, but it will most likely lead to a more positive experience than you would get from a legal blend.
Even if you have no idea where to get it, seek and you shall find my friend. Everyone knows someone who smokes. Even if you don't know them well. If you just bring it up in a subtle way in conversation, I'm sure you'll find some sooner or later.

Silver is crap.
Spice gold, gram for gram, fucks me up way more than any cannabis could.
High grade top shelf strains of cannabis get me high for a couple hours, that stuff gets me high for 8-10 hours if I smoke the same amount.

I ordered spice silver just once. I actually ordered gold, but they called me and told me it was out of stock, so I settled for silver. I got a slight stoned feelin of it, like smoking pot stems or something. And after that that webshop didn't stock Spice anymore, and I don't want to order from another country. Simpler and cheaper just to buy weed.

Yeah my big thing right now is the whole going the legal route deal. I also have the problem of being this respected perfect person, and asking anyone I know about weed would be kind of awkward. I figure if I try something legal and enjoy it, then I wont really have this conscience fucking with me.

remember people pep spice, spice gold, etc. AREN'T just the herbs listed.
A lot of folks act like the cannabinoid-laced blends aren't "real" drugs, if anything, the JWH compounds are more of a "Real drug" than cannabis.

Why should legality have anything to do with whether or not it weighs on your conscience? Are you aware of the reasons why weed is illegal?
