I have no clue, but I've NEVER once heard of "reverse tolerance" with marijuana, there's several factors that could lead them to not getting high. things like their premeditated thoughts of the experience and it not being what they thought it would be like, self-denial, medicine their own, bad weed, who knows.
all i'm saying is that I've never seen it personally, and have a hard time believing it's a real thing.

Hah always feels good to be back on the Shroomery. 
I've never personally encountered someone who failed to get high their first time either. If only we could conduct a study where we forcibly toke up people who have never smoked weed in their life.

I got whacked-out stoned my first time... I remember seeing a goatee and handlebar mustache on my friend's face outside in the dark, and then when we came back in I swear I saw him go in and out of the room 20 or 30 times, felt like hours. It was actually 5 minutes. Then I started feeling really sick and I threw up in front of the toilet until I passed out and hit my head on it. Then I went to sleep.
It was like my mind was rejecting the things I was seeing so strongly that my body said "this shit ends. NOW." I still kinda get that way if I smoke really strong weed after months of not smoking; hallucinations, paranoia, and nausea, in that order.
I think I'll always be a lightweight.
As to people who don't get high, I think it's because they don't inhale. I remember wasting like half a bowl because I wasn't really hitting it. Then I took a deep hit and my throat and mind were on fire...

Didn't feel a thing my first time. It was a bowl and two joints split between two friends and I, and due to not knowing how to properly inhale I only got maybe one or two real hits, but I didn't feel anything at all. When I tried it a second time about a month later (this time two bowls and a joint split between 6 or 7 people, only got 2 good hits) I did get high.

think about it for two seconds. how could THC not make you high? it either gets you high the first time and every time that follows, or NEVER gets you high.
To say that is to say you know exactly how THC interacts with the mind, and all connections that are possible.
Not everyone is lying just because that's what you've experienced. The difference is that people say they didn't get high the firs time will admit that they don't know why, it's just the observation they made.
In other words they are telling you the truth as they experienced, not giving definite scientific information.

didnt get high my first time, but i can blame that on the pepsi-can pipe and SKETCHY as spot i smoked in where i only had time for one bowl-pack.

I smoked weed for the first time in a group. The conversation, the laughing, everything sort of distracted from the high I felt. I also had no idea what to be looking for. I felt something, but it wasn't until I smoked weed by myself that I realized shit, this stuff is REALLY REALLY cool!
So I'd say no, I didn't get the same feeling I associate with marijuana now. It wasn't until I smoked alone that I noticed what the effects really were.

First time I was a few beers deep and took a few hits from a pipe so I couldn't tell. Second time I was sober but only had a few hits, and felt strange. I finally said fuck it and smoked my first joint and hit it 9 times and literally tripped and have never been that high on weed again.

i didnt get high the first time, and the second time i was by myself with some shitty weed and smoked 13 bowls before i got a little bit high. lol

i recall my first time... i remember that i didnt get high as i do now. the effects i experienced were not like a miniscule dose of LSD.

I didn't feel anything the first few times except for a sore throat. I asked a buddy and he said it was normal--that it takes most people a couple of times before they feel anything. 
Then, I think it was the fourth time, it hit me like a ton of bricks--I was chillin' in bed and it suddenly felt as if I had flipped over backwards and was falling through the floor. Freaked me out actually and sent me into a mild panic. 
After that it was smoooooooooooooth sailing.

i was so high my first time that i was laughing so hard i began choking on the pizza i was chewing on, but i had the munchies so bad that i couldn't stop craming it in my face. 
have you ever had white garlic pizza? how about deliciously choking it down?(assuming "no") neither did i until then, and now its the only satisfying munchie 
actually, it sounds a bit dangerous now.
