 US Military Bases... some weird shit.

A friend of mine just started working at a major army base in NJ (not Dix) as a preschool teacher. She has been working there for 2 weeks but for some reason just now got a tour of the base. She was telling me about it via IM on her phone.
Apparently there is some pretty freaky shit going on. The one that stuck out the most in my mind is that they have a "Human Engineering Lab." It could be something benign but when I think military and human engineering I automatically think they're working on creating super humans, cyborgs, and engineering viruses.
Other things that struck me as weird... In her classroom she has a button that she can hit that completely seals off the room from any outside air in case of a chemical attack. Apparently she had to do one of those drills today.
Also, they teach kids to shoot guns. She didn't say what age they were, but they didn't teach me how to shoot guns in any of my schooling.
Heh they also test bombs on this base so she frequently tells me how a bomb just went off and shoot the entire building. She said the kids seem to not even notice it.
I'm gonna see if she can take me on a tour, it'd be cool to see. I'd especially like to go to the bomb range and watch them test some bombs. But there's that whole security clearance shit... and I don't have any.

really... I learned marksmanship in school as well as archery, they
started us at around 12 with air rifles because it was a public school,
I was pretty damned good with both before then because I had my own, in
fact I had a 12 gauge and a .30-30 at 12 years old
the bomb testing ensures they're the calmest kids on the planet
when a war breaks out on US soil

Hahaha... I just asked her what they do there and she said they test weapons on human models to see their effects. I call bullshit.
I didn't have rifley and archery at my school. Well, they tried archery but some idiot kid decided to shoot an arrow straight up and it went over the gym and into some kid's shoe... while he was wearing it. Parents got all pissed off and the archery program was dead within a week of its start.

hahaha... I think the marksmanship program got canceled when some kid kept
'missing' the target and taking out car windows... stupid teacher set the
range in the direction of the teachers parking area

Sounds like it. It's HQ of army ammunition research. I live about a 20 minute drive from there. I remember a couple years ago they fucked up and had something blow up on their base and a big chunk of debris flew in the air and crashed through the roof of somebody's home. They explained it with a simple whoops-e-daisy.
