High on Formaldehyde

In my Anatomy class we have 2 cadavers to work on and learn the internal body. Well my lab is 2 hours long, and after being in there I think I got high. It was so weird. All my words wouldn't come out right. It felt like somewhere between the high from tripping (no visuals) and weed. Time went by really slow too. I didn't like the feeling at all. Has this happened to anyone else before or am I just crazy?

I think what we're seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost being and reality, so we can actually feel the rapture of being alive.

I think you had a flashback. Intense situations tend to trigger them, and being around corpses being dissected would qualify as intense.
If the concentration of formaldehyde vapor was up to a level of concern, you would have been extremely uncomfortable.
Formaldehyde is a serious poison.

Thanks for the input.
I never though flashback. Gory things don't really bother me though.

I used to think so, but the more I hear about people having them, the more I think they can happen.

No they don't. That is a myth centered on PCP.

Exactly.
And they don't use formaldehyde anymore, they use formalin. I used to work with the stuff on a daily basis. If you are around too high of a concentration the worst it does is give you a really bad headache, make you nauseous, and fixes the cells in the lining of your nose. Fixes means it immediately kills the cells and stops all processes within them... aka you loose your sense of smell for a few days to a week.
Edit: apparently I was misinformed. I was told that they stopped using formaldehyde (because it's a carcinogen) and started using formalin in it's place. Turns out formalin is just formaldehyde mixed with water.

well that would be the explenation for a flashback? random brain connection that actually shouldn't fire up = flashback
atleast that would be the explenation i'd make up too

Formaldehyde is nasty but good for making Methylamine which in turn is handy for making lots of interesting things.

It's also handy for making rats stiff as a board. They were fixing a whole rat in the lab one day and it's tail was so stiff you could have thrown the thing at a dart board and it would have stuck in.

I've had flashbacks after using salvia a decent amount. It was pretty bad too because they were just as intense. For example, I was in the back seat of a car and a friend to my left in the middle seat was telling me to get out, while another friend outside the car holding the door open was saying to stay. This somehow triggered an intense moment of indecision, similar to how I feel like I don't know what to do on salvia(theres no way out, etc), which lead to a complete breakdown of reality for at least 10 seconds where I just felt like the salvia gravity was pushing me back and forth.
I think this may be different, because the salvia receptor(kappa opoid) is involved in stress, so it may make sense that it could bring back an intense trip under the right type of stress.
Just thought I'd post my experience because before that I didn't really believe in flashbacks either.

it makes sense to me. i think it might have been because i had similar feelings to tripping/being high. who knows though..
