I don't live there, but I think it is just beginning.
Someone from the UK please correct me if I am mistaken.

Plenty of time. You have until the first frosts. I've found libs until mid December.

You're just in time. Go out and look. The peak is yet to come.

Yes been picking already, only got about 100 before the farmer got on his high horse and pi##ed on my chips , anyway, its due to rain here this week and this weekend were I live, so i'm back on the hunt again on Sunday, away from that field.
Peak of the season should start very soon. I've got my paper bag and hiking boots out already.
p.s it was a public footpath I was on.

It definitely in the season now, i've been picking for the last couple of weeks however most of the sites i used to visit in previous years have been raided by uninformed kids picking them and have been bringing up the mycelium with the stalk.
The first rain in a couple of weeks dropped last night so new crop coming through

There are plenty of look-a-likes, but once you've picked you'll know the difference. I go by the rule, if I cant clearly identify the mushroom, I don't pick it. Me and my mates check through the shrooms again after picking anyway, anythin your not sure about ask them.
Happy trippin.

Most mushrooms are pretty hard to identify without picking them.
Spore prints?

I hope you got pics of the sterile shroom you found. I will be uploading some photos soon, including some of a few sporeless specimens.
