Purple caps with light brown spots. Turns purple when broken.

They have a slimey solid purple cap with brown spots and a light brown spot in the center of the cap.
The caps were smooth and dry when picked, now they're slimey since they got wet.
The caps were solid purple when picked and the purple is fading to brown spots.
The stems are hollow and turn purple when broken. The stem lengths range from 2-4 inches. They are also a light cream, very light purple color on the outside.
The gills are a light brown with purple. Waiting on a spore print. The gills are not attached to the stems. 3/8-1/2 inch thick. texture a little rough and looks strandy.
Found on the forest floor in leaves, wooded debris, and moss. Found in South eastern Pennsylvania in the mountains.

Looks like a Cortinarius species. Not active.

I tried to go by photos and such from that list the past 6 days but nothing compares to actually seeing and touching the mushroom.
The species in my area are: Gymnopilus aeruginosus Gymnopilus junonius Gymnopilus luteofolius Gymnopilus luteus Panaeolus cinctulus Pluteus salicinus Psilocybe caerulipes Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata Psilocybe semilanceata (very rare)
Should I be looking for ANYTHING in particular that would help make these stand out from other mushrooms, habitat, color, etc.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

Best advice is to imprint those pictures into your head as well as learning the habitat for those mushrooms. Then when out in the field visualize the mushrooms that you are looking for. If you find some take pics, bring home and then work through the process of identifying them like fill out an Id template, take spore prints, take good clear pictures of cap, gills and stem and then post samples here for others to help pin point for you. After a few times doing this you will be able to ID them by yourself confidently.

I just found in my batch from today what i believe to be from the Gymnopilus species, two of the small ones scratched blue immediately!
Looks like i did something right!

I see no annulus. I suspect they are Tricholomopsis rutilans. Spore print them, that'll clear things up. The other is a Strobilomyces.

why would the 2 closed ones turn blue when damaged? do other mushrooms do this besides psychoactive ones?
Btw the color changers are red and yellow.

your purple one is Cortinarius iodes, German Kahuna is right about Tricholomopsis rutilans and your bolete is Suillus pictus (=S. spraguei)

Wow. You are right. I've never seen such fuzzy Suillus. Totally screamed Strobilomyces at me. I just looked at the pores again and they don't look like Strobilomyces at all.
