Reason? I don't know about Australia, but the government of the US is composed of some of the most unreasonable, narrow-minded dickheaded fucking assholes to ever walk the face of the earth. But for those who want to still enjoy life in a decade, they should have the facts before them.
Harm reduction.
I believe people have the right to burn out like a rockstar and die at 27 - it's sort of a right in my books.
I was replying to the comment that they are not harmful.

I dont see it happen, even for medicinal reasons.
pharmaceuticals is big business, and we all know the world revolves around money.
I doubt it would be deemed worthy just for medical use. Even if it got legilised for medical use, there would still be plenty of people growing for that purpose and that would cut into profits.
The thing that pisses me off is that alcohol is legal, yet it kills way more people than psycadelics do. Even MDMA which can be dangerous when abused has only claimed the lifes of a rediciously small number of people. and that was through stupdity.
And those deaths wernt directly related to MDMA, it was either comnbined with other drugs, over heating, or drinking a shit load of water (so it wasnt mdma, it was water poisening)
The only deaths on mushrooms i have heard of was someone jumping of a bridge. Even serioiusly high doses of LSD i havnt heard of a death caused by that.
There was an unfortunate story recently where someones friend died while tripping (my deepest respects RIP), something to do with epilipsy that cant be explained. I wouldnt be surprised if that got out it would be complelty twisted into a story blaming mushrooms.

The tightarsed way they are 'allowing' the 'serious psycho-therapists' to do 'STUDIES', meanwhile even banning the sale of magic mushrooms in Holland, and here, and elswhere
I am angry .....it is like some sick father figure who shuts you the fuck up in a dirty cellar for 40 years and lets you out. What ya say? thanks? these haven't even let us out! ...we are supposed to wait around waiting for all the ....studies to be done?
then thers the cost. How many of us here know how much psychedelic psychotherapy costs? it is freakin expensive. not many people like me could afford it
So, here's my idea, psssss 
We do it ourselves!! We are already doing it. We dont WORRy about what they do. let them do what they do. What WE do is encourage people to deeply love and respect the sacred mushrooms and other psychedelics, and to educate themselves and ourselves of how to use them in sacred way and in this way we dont then depend on the 'medical model'. I am not saying there isn't a place for them of course. buit not for us to waste effort worrying about THEM, and THEIR trip. Which is mechanistic and controlling...
The same it should be for allopathic medicine where millions of people cannot afford 'healthcare'. IF we eat well, and keep as healthy as we can and support each other what need do we have of ' basement jack daddy'?
