You really shouldn't do it at all... but sites like this are for harm reduction.  The answer is NO... heroin is water soluble and all u do by cooking it is incorporating otherwise insoluble cuts and non-heroin garbage in the product to be shot into the vein.

Oh yea, and if you are a recreational opiate user i cannot stress enough not to ever shoot.  I am pissed i ever tried it and i would never think of shooting, just escalates everything and tolerance adjusts pretty quickly.  You will have to shoot *every* time... you've been warned!

That is only a true statement assuming two things:

1) That the user has an appreciable tolerance (something much more than just 'recreational')

2) The user does not have a high quality dope connect. Most NYC open-air market dope has % purity levels that are making police cringe (think upwards of 75%... as much as  90% pure).  People on in the Midwest do not have this luxury and hence need to shoot it to get high, likewise for a lot of users on the west coast using Mexican tar heroin.

I started out snorting and got high as a kite... when my tolerance went up I learned to basify heroin HCl for smoking use.  Some people smoke no. 4 but it is a waste you HAVE TO turn the salt into a freebase for smoking to be truly effective...

As you can see i just refused to poke myself (i hate needles)

I obviously agree that if it is not quality dope, especially for someone who is opioid-tolerant, heroin can only be worthwhile if it is injected.  A lot of addicts are actually much more addicted to the euphoric rush upon injection than the subjective opiate high itself, this is true.

But you lost me... what do you mean "otherwise no"?  I was responding to you in the first place when you said "there is no point in doing heroin unless ur gonna shoot it"-- because I felt although in some cases that's true, it is not always and don't have to be.

What exactly are you calling bullshit on ??  I admitted even in my using days I was too "chicken", to inject myself.  Are you saying I am lying when I said i got high as a kite snorting it when I was starting out?  Think what you may, i really don't care, but if you think that there is no way that could be true then you obviously have never encountered good NYC dope.

The high from snorting was more than adequate for a while, and probably helped delay full blown addiction much longer than if I turned to the needle right away.  Also, smoking is nearly as efficient as injection if you know basic organic chemistry... provided you basify the heroin salt, which is the form a wide majority of US dope comes in.  Europe is a different story.
