 UK: MP witnesses drug deals in Newtown

A Reading MP this week went to witness drug dealing in Newtown in response to a plea from people living in the area.
Rob Wilson went to Orts Road to see for himself the extent of the drug problem.
He was responding to claims by police drug dealing in nearby Mandela Court had ceased which in turn prompted complaints from his constituents it had simply “moved across the road”.
He went to Orts Road and in half an hour saw a number of people buying drugs.
Mr Wilson was unwilling to reveal to the Post exactly where the transactions took place so as not to encourage drug users to go there.
He said the people buying the drugs were aged generally in their early 20s and 30s with some a bit older.
“There were lookouts keeping an eye out for the police but the dealer seemed to be doing pretty brisk business,” he said.
“There was a steady procession of people buying drugs while I was there.”
He added: “There is a view that because they are dealing skunk and cannabis this is the less serious end of the drug market, but you should tell that to the residents who are sick of feeling intimidated and frightened by it.”
He said the police should be doing more to stamp out the drug dealing.
He said: “I know it can be done because they did it at Mandela Court.
“I believe they have the resources to do it and if they don’t they should be asking for them.
“We should not simply be tolerating this.”
Mr Wilson said all the agencies including Reading Borough Council and the partners in Safer Reading should be working together.
He added: “I witnessed the drug dealing when it was in Mandela Court and it seems to me it is just as bad now in Orts Road as it was there.”
Chief Superintendent Richard Bennett said: “We are aware of the problems in Orts Road and policing activity is in place in the area to tackle the drugs problems, not all of which we can talk about at this time.
“As Mr Rob Wilson the local MP has recognised, we have successfully addressed the issues at Mandela Court.
“We will address the issues in Orts Road too.”
He said police had been working with the Neighbourhood Action Group and relied on information from the community.

Skunk and cannabis? What the fuck? Where do these people get off not understanding that skunk is a strain of the cannabis plant?

yeah, maybe we should tell them... then they would know its OK to stop feeling intimidated and frightened by these two distinct soft drugs.

It's only really one drug, skunk is cannabis.
But yeah It's not the weed that's makin em scared, it's the dickhead little scummers who would be causing trouble whether they had drugs or not. In fact probably more so if they didnt have drugs cuz what would they do to fill that time?
