Last night,Dr. Rand Paul announced on Your World with Neil Cavuto that he is officially declaring his candidacy for the US Senate 2010.
Many of you are familiar with Rand's father, Texas Congressmen Ron Paul whose Audit The Fed legislation is really picking up steam in Congress.
Rand is the only conservative in the race and is a true defender of freedom. If you are unfamiliar with Rand and what he stands for please take the time to watch this recent interview with him by Bowling Green's local ABC affiliate:

He's getting a LOT of national media coverage. Is that normal for a prospective Senator?? He's also got nationwide fund raising capability. I've got $20 with his name on it, aug. 20th, and I'm from KANSAS!  I am very optimistic about this.

Ron Paul #2, but maybe a little soft around the edges? I think he'll be on the same page with Ron Paul on every issue, but his rhetoric is not as "extreme", for lack of a better term. It's a good approach for him to take. If he sounded like a Ron Paul clone, he wouldn't get elected.

If Peter Schiff's money bomb is any indication, Paul's money bomb is going to be HUGE. Yesterday, Schiff proved that he'll have the funds necessary to compete with the other republicans. And he didn't even have to DO ANYTHING. He made like $250,000 in one day, and he's not even in the race yet! Anyone associated with Ron Paul who is running for a congressional seat is going to have major fundraising success.

Not all libertarians agree with everything Ayn Rand had to say.
Those who follow the Austrian school (the Paul family, Peter Schiff, & many others) have been correct in the assessment of the U.S. economy for years. Followers of the keynesian school has been woefully ignorant.
Perhaps instead of stereotyping an incredibly diverse group of people (libertarians, austrian economists et cetera) you may learn something by examining their economic & political viewpoints.

I assume he will have similar political views as Doctor Ron

Right now I just want anyone who is liberty minded to be elected. I'm sure that Dr.Paul brought his son up right and taught him about real economics and liberty. I've seen Rand talk and he knows what he's talking about.

Hey man, the economy is fucked and civil liberties are being threatened in America. Arguing over parentage is kind of pointless given the situation we are in. Mainstream media doesn't give the freedom loving people much exposure. Ironic given that this is America we're talking about. We need people like Rand to run because at least the masses of people will recognize him from his last name. He knows what he's doing too.

What don't you get about it. Less than a year ago, libertarians were bitching about "dynasties." I know how opportunist the group is though, so I'm really not altogether shocked.

Ron Paul supported legalizing cannabis. He doesn't want it to be taxed either. He is a freedom loving person. I don't understand what you (as a possible psychedelic drug user) could ever have against him or any other libertarian.
