The incantation of the phoenix: an exercise in drug magick
    #10645102 - 07/08/09 10:34 PM (2 years, 10 months ago)

Preparation
This ritual was designed in a simplistic manner in order to abstain from as much superfluous baggage as possible.  The magickian prepares in the following manner.
-Ritual attire, such as a robe, is optional.  If ritual attire is used it is recommended that (s)he only don it for the incantations, slipping into more comfortable clothing for the bulk of the ceremony.
-An eye is drawn on the left hand.  This is symbolic of the symbiotic relationships between sight and feeling, and consciousness and will.  This also represents a formula of change and life through the union of Set(the eye, life force) with the virgin Isis(the hand).  The left hand is chosen due to its relationship with the right brain hemisphere, which is the more artistic and intuitive one.
-The frog sacrament.  This is not an actual frog, but one or more 5ht2a agonists which do not have a negative reaction with the hawk sacrament.  Ideal candidates are lsd, 4-sub tryptamines, and some of the good phenethylamines.  The moa and substance choice must facilitate an experience lasting at least 4hrs.  Dosage is to be determined by the magickian but a medium to moderately high dosage may be best suited.
-The baby hawk sacrament.  This is not an actual baby hawk, but ketamine in a quantity known to enable the magickian to enter what is known as the k-hole, or what I consider "splicing into the kurrents".  Due to certain variables, such as duration of action, other nmda antagonists such as dxm and pcp are not ideal.  It is strongly recommended that ketamine in proper dosage is used for the baby hawk sacrament.  The moa must be either insufflated, I.M., or I.V.; oral is not recommended.
-The incantation, printed or written by hand.  I actually do not recommend memorization of ritual material as it places too much emphasis on the mind over invocation of the proper forces.  As reading comes quite easily for most people, this allows one to be able to concentrate on reciting the words at the proper fervor.  I feel that it is only when the ritual has been recited enough times that the words flow without much conscious effort, that reading becomes unnecessary.
-A small bell is optional.

The Ritual
The magickian faces North

The magickian knocks 11 times on a hard surface or tolls 11 times upon the bell.  This is done in a sequence of 5-pause-6.

The magickian casts a visualized circle in the way (s)he knows how.

The magickian recites the first segment of the incantation which goes as follows:
Arise oh serpent of lust and lore
Arise from thy coil of Earthen bore
Arise oh serpent to the beckon of Ra-Hoor!

Burneth thy veil with the fire from the east
Burneth and dance to the song that never ceased
Burneth and romance for this most holy feast!

This frog I have prepared for thy belly to swell
This frog will be sustenance for the heavens you shall dwell
This frog consumed will resound the magick bell!

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law

The magickian consumes the frog.  If more than one substance is used, they must be consumed in rapid succession.

This ends the first segment of the ceremony and allows for the invoked forces to unfold.

The timing for the second segment of the ceremony is to be determined by the magickian and is also dependent of the choice of the substance(s) used.  Optimally, the second segment is begun late into the peak or the waning portion of the journey but before the comedown.  Usually this would be 2-4hrs after the frog is consumed.

The magickian again faces North and recites the second segment of the incantation which goes as followed:
Abrahadabra and the letter of eight
In silence does the star stireth its fate
Shall will endure the worlds to create?

Passionate slither with a flow like the Nile
Upon the baby hawk all alone on its isle
Egad!  Shall this bliss defile?

From the tongue-choked snake does Hrumachis arise
Returning doubly amidst the tunnels in the skies
Is it true the eye of Shiva never cries?

Love is the law, love under will

The magickian consumes the baby hawk.

The magickian assumes a comfortable horizontal position with the feet facing North and submits to the invoked forces.

Commentary
I've flipped within my head different ways of providing the commentary, from an extensive one to not providing it at all, and have chosen to mostly forgo it.  I'll simply appeal to I,34 and ask that one trust that this is'nt just something I slopped together.  I feel it to be a quite valid, yet simple, ritual using tried and tested elements instrumental in the alteration of consciousness in the name of magickal exploration.  I'll just state that this ritual emphasizes the symbiotic relationship between Horus and the hidden god Set, culminating in the invocation of the double wanded bird of return.  One looking for a deeper understanding of the material may benefit from appealing to uncle Al and the Typhonian works of Kenneth Grant, though I'd reckon a good deal of constructive and abstract thinking is required in order to understand how the particular drug sacraments fit into all this.  Please respect my desire to don the sign of Hapocrates and not answer any questions in regards to the meanings of this ritual.

First Working
I first utilized this incantation on Sun-Mon July 5-6.  I'm not going to provide a comprehensive trip report, but I must say that the journey was positively spectacular from many standpoints.  Visually luminous, mentally transcendent, and physically rapturous!  An extravaganza of magickal and hedonistic merit .  And yes, there were some key correspondences with the material of the incantation  .

The frog was composed of 20mg DPT(insufflated), 4.75 hits of LSD(moderately potent blotter), and 6mg of 2c-e(oral).  About 160-170mg of s-keta(insufflated) was utilized for the baby hawk at about the 4hr point.  I had weighed out 211, but simply could'nt get it all up there.  It happens sometimes.  I had used my right nostril(poor one) for the dpt knowing full well that it would clog it up for a very long time.  Unfortunately, my good one was'nt feeling the need to invoke the influence of a Kirby vac.    Regardless, I was still able to splice into the kurrents.  I'll also note that I forgot to draw the eye on my hand in anticipation of what was to come.  Much of the journey was spent outdoors walking and bicycling(there definitely IS something to biking and lucy).  I'll note that I was quite tired prior to the journey and in the beginning stages of a cold(now in full force ), but in a positive mindset after an enjoyable weekend and reconciliation with my boyfriend after a rough patch.  Music listened to during the journey(pre-hole, headphones in dark) was provided by a round of my favorite serotonergic album, Musick to play in the dark 2 by Coil(Yeah, I know, I wax eloquent often for coil but they deserve it).  Quite possibly my greatest music listening experience to date!  Okay enough of this, I'd be a fool to think I could properly penetrate such an experience with words.

If one is to get anything from this(after all, it is a mushroom/drug forum in which I doubt the majority of members have an interest in magickal incantations!) , let it be known that the combo I used was fantastic!  The low dose of dpt provided a very fast kick into a psychedelic state.  Its stimulant nature was greatly appreciated early on and I think the fast action of dpt really helped ease into the acid comeup.  This was my first time with 2c-e and it was in low dose so I cant be too certain on differentiating it from the L, but I definitely think it was instrumental in shaping the latter portion of the trip as it had a definite "pihkal" flair.  K combined with a serotonergic is always awesome, but I must say that I have yet to top the profundity of the hole with the mushroom and ~200mg k combo.  Of course, the lsd was the most instrumental in the shaping of the trip.  Truly a remarkable substance.  It's most unfortunate that I so rarely come across it and I used up my supply for this journey .  At the 12.5hr mark, things were still going quite strong so I decided to take 25 of diph and .5 of xanax to get to sleep.

Thanks for your time.

Sounds like a good time!  I haven't tried Ketamine with magick yet but my single experience with it did tantalize me with all the possibilities of a Universe of your own creation.

Also I'm digging the moon picture in your sig.

Yeah man, Beksinski is the shit.  Every 100 posts I go with a different work from the Zdz for my sig, usually from his late digital era.  I'm especially fond of the fact that he would never attribute meaning to his work, painting for the sake of art unhindered by semantics.

Hangman, hangman, upon your face a smile
Tell me that I'm free to ride
And ride for many mile, mile, mile.
