San Pedro ID

I was just making sure its a San Pedro, I'm not really a cacti person.
Quote:
I found 4 San Pedro Trichocereus pachanoi, each pot had two good sized T. pachanoi's in them about 10" Tall X 3" Wide And 7.5" Tall X 3" Wide each. It cost $15 but I only bought one.
The soil was really wet, Xmart and 'non nursery' stores tend to over water cacti it seems. They can go months without water so its crazy how they water them.
I found this $15 Pedro at Xmart (A nickname for a very common big chain store)

If this is indeed Pedro I'm very happy that it is my first, Also i already know not to consume them because of the chemicals/pesticides an what not. I will probably grow them out a few year take cuttings and root them, then maybe one day consume.
And a question http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Pedro_(cactus) says "San Pedro cactus (Echinopsis pachanoi, syn. Trichocereus pachanoi)" So is the newest scientific name Echinopsis pachanoi? I know Trichocereus pachanoi is still accepted and I can always just call it San Pedro but its good to keep up with the scientific names.

of course. i'm not sure exactly how potent the backberg clone can be, but i'm sure it wouldn't have spread so far and wide if it was inactive.

Sorry for the double post but I can vouch for the potency of backbergs. At least mine (which are very well treated, I don't stab it once in a while nor stress it by anyway, only water starving at most).
When they´re a bit skinnier (less water), they become stronger, when they´re fat and round you need a bit more because its almost pure water.

This is how a 'real deal' pedro looks like. Unfortunately I cannot say the source of the seeds.

I always confuse the two, I have some matching the picture you posted, someone ID'd as backbergs once so I ran with it, thanks for clarifying that felix.

yup, that's why i said "how potent the backberg clone can be" meaning potency can vary depending on growth conditions
