First Grow: Grow Log w/pics UPDATE 6.7.09

I'm doin my first grow and wanted to do a grow log. i bought 3 spawn bags and inoculated 2 of them with Burma strain. One bag is a rye grain and the other is wbs. This is gonna be a monotub grow log using bulk substrate:poo and coco coir.
6/24/09-6/25/09 I Inoculated the rye bag i have on Wednesday and my wbs bag Thursday. i still have another bag and alittle over 3ccs of spores left.
6/24/09-6-28/09 Since inoculation they have been in an incubator with a low of 82 and a high of 86 constantly. With me taking a peak every now and then.
6/29/09 UPDATE: I have abounded the incubator idea but still temperatures in my house dint get to low the temp gauge says around 81 degrees at the lowest.
If u have any questions or comments feel free to comment ill keep this updated. this will be a monotub project
UPDATE:6/28/09
I inoculated the last wbs bag i had and used the last of the spores in the syringe i bought. Still no signs of growth or mold in any of the bags.
UPDATE:7/03/09
Okey so today i go to check the bags and theres some good news and bad news. Ive had my bags for 10 days now and they've been moved to a couple of different spots and places till Ive finally seem some growth. at first they were in a incubator at 86 degrees for like 5 days then they were takin out and under my bed for about 3 or so days at around an average 83 degrees. thought it was alittle warm so After 8 days over a week since Ive noced them and was thinkin id see something and nothing not even mold. so i mixed 2 of the bags up and mushed them around. 1 was the rye grain bag which had been noced up for 8 days and a wbs that had only been noced up for about 4 days i know it was early just trying it out cause i had seen other peoples grow bags and logs and they had growth after the first couple of days and i was just worried. After that i took them from under my bed and opened the bag fully and set the stright up in a cool dark open area.(closet) so they have plunny of space and its cooler.
Now today i checked on the bags and there are 2 bags showing signs of growth. one good. one not so good. one of the wbs bags the one that i did NOT mush around of mix up started to have contam. the rye grain bag has look white grain scattered around the bag from i guess when i mixed it up? i didn't noticed them before but do today. I'm pretty sure they weren't there before but I'm gonna put of pictures of both of the bags.
Contaminated WBS
Rye Colonization Maybe?
Any advice or comments feel free. will be keeping it updated as more happens.

cool stuff
you might like to know though that incubators are kind of an outdated practice unless you live somewhere in extreme temperatures without AC or heat. myc has been shown to colonize just as well at room temperature than at 80F+. some of the reason for this is that the colonization process produces some heat, so incubating at temperatures above 80 can actually risk having an environment that is overly hot for the myc. That is especially true if you are going to use bulk substrate. the air pump also isn't necessary, FAE isn't needed for colonization, just some gas exchange which will happen fine without something circulating the air.
i know it sucks cause it looks like you have already built it but your grow would go better without it.

mushbox and spores101 are like forbidden words on this forum.. mushbox and spores101 are the same people & they have there own forum.. I forget what the url is tho..
I'm not saying your not welcome here, but here we frown upon "kits" I almost bouth a mushbox kit the MYG one but I found this place THANK GOD!! & instead built my own "Kit" for half the price!
Anyways good luck with your grow, but you should work on makeing your own system when you get a hang of it.

Well the names can be edited out of the post which what ill do but the incubator setup even if its not really keeping it that warmer its doing alittle some keeping them in a dark area and yes i heard its not too goo to keep them to warm because the actual temp inside the bag is warmer because of the myc so it stays around mostly around 83 84. so if anything the most the insde would be 86 and that would be almost ideal for colinazation. also about the air pump. its just there to provide air in the space and move the water so the warm water circulates. not really hurtin anything. but thanks for the replys and ill keep it updated when anythign happens

toss the fishtank heater. you have received outdated information thinking 86 degrees is ideal. your bags are going to colonize real slow at that temp. keep them below 80.

clearin up the whole "kit buying theory" in this post. i did not purchuse a kit. simply purchuse grow bags and spores becuase i can not easily sterlize my own grain or make spores. not able to so gotta deal with it.

a foaf uses an TiT incubator to keep things around 80, he lives in a very hot climate so the ac stays at about 65 a little too cold to have good growth.
