Avoiding contams when using Poor Man's Mycelium Syringe Tek

I want to use this tek but I have used polyfill as the filter and it occurs to me that contams are likely to be present and get on the syringe (Shoved into the cake and then sucked up into the syrup).
My plan is more or less to dilute peroxide 50/50 with filtered water and spray it liberally at each filter point. Of course, flame sterilising the needle itself before and after injection...but my concern is more with contams getting into the Corn syrup/culture inside the syringe and getting injected into the next product.
Any thoughts/recommendation?
EDIT: It just occured to me that since these cakes are more or less almost fully colonised (Except a small bit at the bottom which I think will finish in the next week or so) Can I just rip[ the polyfill out since the substrate shouldn't be susceptible especially since the top is so well colonised?
I don't have any micro pore tape. I wish I did but it wasn't in the budget =(

wet filters are not very effective. your best bet would be to get some red RTV silicone from an automotive shop and make self-healing ports for injection
There is no need for corn syrup inside the syringe. tap water will be fine because the mycelium will grow when you inoculate a substrate with it. Sterile syringes and syringe water is as simple as sucking up boiling water from a pot, rinsing a few times
you could also suck up a bit using sterile water and then shoot the mycelium water into a jar of sterile nutrient water. mmm...

Those are excellent ideas!!!! I've got quite a bit to be inoculating (2 jars & 3 bags each x3 -Shitake, LM, & Enoki!) so the latter suggestion will let me be doing it all at once! Very helpful. THank you!
