 Florida Outdoor Grow Black Kow Vermiculite

I am looking for some advice / critique on an outdoor growing effort. I am in Northeast Florida, so I think an outdoor grow should be do-able. My first effort was not successful.
Here is what I tried:
I filled up a kitty litter box with Black Kow manure from a bag. I added a modest amount of vermiculite, probably about 10-20%.
I then took a fully inoculated organic rice flour / vermiculite cake (ie: PF TEK method) and buried it about 1 ½ inches down into the manure / vermiculite mix in the litter box. I then put the litter box up against the outside of my house, on the shade side behind some low shrubbery (see photo). I put the box under a sheet of Plexiglas to protect it from occasional intense downpours.
The result was that nothing happened.
Based on my reading of various posts, I think these are some of my mistakes:
1) I put the box outside on about March 1st. Too cold for outdoor grow. Average low daily temperature was 53 degrees. Average high daily temperature was 72 degrees. I suppose this alone is enough to screw up an outdoor grow!
2) My substrate - Black Kow manure plus 10-20% vermiculite not right? I saw a post where someone recommended:
50% Black Kow
30% Coir
10% Straw
10% Verm
5% Gypsum by volume
Hydrated Lime
Perhaps I need to use a different substrate mix like this one?
3) I buried a fully inoculated rice cake without crumbling it up or otherwise helping it to inoculate any of the surrounding manure? Should I crumble up the cake? Did I bury it too deep? (1.5-2 inches?) Any ideas on how to help the cake inoculate the surrounding manure?
4) Humidity too erratic. It goes up into 90% early in the morning, but also goes way down to as low as 25% at 2pm on some days.
I am hoping for your insight on this effort. What can I do to make this work?

hmmm... I know this is late, but i just found this and would like to give some input if you need any at this point.
The amount of mycelium should be no less than 5-8% of the amount you wish to colonize in order to better the chances of full colonization.
Crumbling the cake and mixing it evenly would of been a much more successful route.
This will allow a stronger chance of the right mycelium to colonize rather than another to take over.
Keep a dark plastic bag over the mix for atleast a week or two keeping it moist under the plastic.
A minimum of 72degrees and a maximum of 90degrees F is ideal for healthy growth or any growth at all.
After a week or two, you should see mycelium taking over the bed and at that point, you should spread a decent amount of grass seed on top leaving the plastic bag off from this point on. Afte you put the grass seed down, put a thin top layer of black cow over the seeds and mist the area until damp. Continue to mist if there is no rain.
Once the grass sprouts up, you will have a very effective natural moisture trap, and you'll have monster pins out the ass if followed correctly.

dude, eyeshadow plus darkness can cover a multitude of sins.
in the morning afterwards, with no makeup on, might be a different story.
Then she'd be annoying AND a hag.

lol... there are tons of things that are illegal that should be legal and visa versa. It all depends on how the person looks at it and what their intentions are.
