OTTAWA COUNTY -- A Web site that carries the writing of James von Brunn, a man suspected in Wednesday's slaying of a guard at the U.S. Holocaust Museum, has ties to a West Michigan man, online records show.

The site, holywesternempire.org, is registered to Steve Reimink, a 45-year-old from West Olive in Ottawa County.

Neither Reimink nor his family members could be reached for comment. It is not clear if there is a connection between Reimink and James von Brunn.

The site's homepage plays part of "Taps" and encourages people to remember veterans and survivors of wars that the United States was or is involved in.

By clicking an entry link, von Brunn's book "Kill the Best Gentiles" is presented as a hard-hitting expose of the Jewish "conspiracy to destroy the white gene-pool."

Online records show Reimink took over the site in October 2000 and that it was last updated April 3, 2009.

Von Brunn, an 88-year-old white supremacist and Holocaust denier, was shot and is not expected to survive, The Associated Press reported.

The suspect allegedly entered the Holocaust Museum just before 1 p.m. and opened fire with a rifle. Stephen Tyron Johns was struck and killed.

There are other local ties to the shooting at one of Washington, D.C.'s most popular tourist destinations.

A Grand Valley State University professor, Dan Balfour, was at the museum during the shooting. He teaches Holocaust studies in the School of Public Administration.

A group of Hudsonville students had planned to visit the museum today, but the closing of the National Mall prevented that from happening.
