 some great pics of yeast in rye grain jars....with a question

the grain jars where injected once with PE...waited a week n a half n nothing. so i shot em up again. 3 days later n i have growthin in all 8 qrt jars. by the time they started taking off the tops n bottoms of the jar where looking very dry. by the time they where close to done i started seeing the yeast in these 2 jars. my question some experts is: does yeats come in through the air or is this simpley because the sub was to dry?
p.s. before pcing i poked a hole through tyvec injection hole so i didnt have any problem finding it for injection...im guessing that wasnt a good idea...dryed out my grain a bit

You shouldnt poke a hole in your tyvek, you can inoculate straight through it, then cover with micropore tape.
When your jars cool, they will drawn in air and that air needes to be filtered.
That may or may not have been why you had a yeast infection idk.
Its also not a good idea to inoculate a jar twice. After sterilisation you have a 3 week window to colinise your jar. AFter that you have more chance of your spawn contaminating, and drying out.
Also, dont miss out the disc and just use tyvek alone, which will also cause unessary air exchange, drying out your grain.
