 Anyone here good with itunes? how do songs automaticaly sync to ipod when downloaded?

so like, ive used ipods for years. but as they are getin bigger and bigger, there is that much more room for me to add shit.
years ago.....i would have to pick my favorites....but now that i have 120 gigs, ive got quite alota room for all kinds of stuff.
anyway, so yea, im working on filling this thing up.
and im just wondering....theres gota be a better way to add songs to my ipod....
so i download them to the same folder, a music folder on my desktop.
then when i wana update my ipod, i have to add the individual stuff i just downloaded to the playlist, because if i only add the MUSIC folder, it will add everything again, and some file types it adds twice for some reason, so every time i just add the music folder again, i end up getin alota duplicates.
anyway, im wondering if anyone knows of a method to add newlydownloaded songs and playlists to my ipod without manualy adding them 1 by one?
is there a way to set a setting so that itunes recognizes new songs in that folder and automaticaly adds to it?
sorry if im not explaining this well. but hopefuly u catch my drift?

Yeah, it's escaping me right now but I know that you can set your Itunes/Ipod to automatically add everything in your library that isn't on your computer.

I meant add everything in your Itunes Music Library that isn't on your IPOD. sorry
in fact i think its the default setting
