They were on most of the dead hemlocks, which there were a lot of. Very young.

 Lady slippers
 The trout stream and hemlocks.

Nice, I'm going to look for them this coming weekend, I've found them once that young, they look very cool when they are at this stage.

I have a thing for orchids...the root (especially of the yellow ones)has been used for its' narcotic properties, but they're "sensitive" plants, and shouldn't be disturbed. Actually, they may be symbiotic with fungus in the forest floor.
