Suspect mushrooms.

Hey, just cross-posting this to get some opinions.
These were grown about a month ago. They were stored in a tub on a layer of toilet paper on top of the porous side of a packet of perfumed desiccant.
The desiccant stank so I took them out, washed them (when they turned blacky-blue) and then oven-dried them. They aren't cracker-dry but they're pretty dry. They still smell somewhat of the desiccant. I spoke to the company that makes it and they said you probably shouldn't eat those mushrooms but didn't say it would be dangerous.
They were stored briefly in a bag with a silica gel sachet - Wikipedia says it's non-toxic though.
Are they safe to eat as long as they are non-mouldy?

You mean they were grown inside? You're worried they're rotten or a different species? Do they smell funky at all?
Next time go with a dehydrator or a fan. I tried a desiccant chamber for literally 10 minutes before I was like, "fuck it", went out the door and found a dehydrator. That's just my 2cents, though. ~Pixie~

idk, if they smell its iffy also, if they have been drying (as in still not dry yet) for over a month im sure some shit has started growing in there cuz of the moisture
get a box, a fan, a piece of screen/tray, and a pair of scissors and you can make a shitty one that will dry your shrooms in 2 days (probly less) put the fan in front of hte box, put the tray/screen in the box, put shrooms on the tray/screen, cut a bunch of small holes in the back of the box, move the apparatus to a corner so its out of teh way, turn on the fan...
gl with your next batch, to answer your original question if the shrooms are "almost dry" at this point and look like that and smell i would toss em...

I take all my shrooms and cut/slice them up like they were gonna go in a salad then load into my dehydrator.
4-6 hours @125f and they're cracker dry.

My subsequent batches I have been fan-drying for 12-24 hours then oven-drying them at 50C for 4-6 hours until cracker dry. They all look fine.
I was going to throw these out but now I've got six people wanting to trip and only 5 decent dried grams although hopefully more on the way.
To clarify, they don't smell or look rotten imo. They only turned black when I washed them to get some of the desiccant off. They still smell of the desiccant though (calcium chloride + perfumes).
I would be making tea out of them.

Surely if the blue/black colour is just through oxidation of the mushroom and the desiccant is harmless then the worst that can happen is they induce sickness?
Otherwise my next flushes better be absolute monsters.

bro you are going to need a lot more zoomers if you have six people that want to trip. you need to bring more like 30 grams dry for that many people..20 at the least! 3 grams is a mild dose for one person..yeah sure you will feel goofy and laugh alot..but you need to take about 4-5 grams to do the trick. just my two cents.. -prismism

using heat to dry mushrooms will decrease the potency. simply place them in a cool dark area in front of a fan.. -prismism

If those were sitting in a dehydration chamber for a month without getting dry, then they're probably rotten. If they made your desiccant stink, then I'll wager that they're definitely rotten.
Next time, get a food dehydrator. If you eat them, keep the hospital on speed dial so you don't have to grab a phone book when you start shooting volcano diarrhea out of your ass.
Also - you called the manufacturer to ask if your shrooms would still be good to eat?

veda sticks - sorry I did not know this feature existed.

prismism - I know - I'm probably going to need to get people to drop out if my cake doesn't go on an amazing growth spurt. Everyone apart from me is a first-timer though and some are asking for weak doses so I think 30gs will be overkill. I have read a lot of times from people with a lot of experience that heat (even boiling) has no effect so I'm happy to oven-dry to them.
I think a lot of you are misunderstanding so I'll try and make myself clearer. The mushrooms were dryed with a fan until they were almost cracker-dry - some just had a slight bend in their stalks. They were then placed in a desiccant chamber but the desiccant I used had a perfume smell and this leaked in to the mushrooms. The mushrooms smell of perfume - not rotten shite. Manufacturer said it was not dangerous. (Brennus - it was a LOL phone-call to this snooty woman who was just like "WTF are you using our product to dry mushrooms for".... I was like "ermmmmm... cooking?")
Only the outside of the mushroom is stained blue/black - when you break the stems the inside is mushroom-coloured. This makes me think that it is just bruised.
I've totally dried them now to the point where they can be easily crumbled in to dust.

First, your shrooms are probably fine, although they look nasty from the pic and perfume would definitely be nauseating when ingesting.

Second, ONE cake is NOT going to get you 30g dry, if it did, people wouldn't do tubs.

Yeah I know I'm aware of that Shroominit but if it could find it in its heart to grow me another 30g fresh I could eat those and have enough to dose everyone else 2g dry... Job done.

Good point. Didn't know how much you had/needed.
One cake after the first flush doing 30g wet is a gamble, but not impossible.
