 Whats the best way to store mushrooms?

I was wondering, what is the best way to store large amounts of mushrooms for a long period of time??
Ive read the other posts and threads on this but no one seems to know, so ill ask a few more questions.
why does freezing them make them last longer?
Does drying them to the point that they are "cracker dry" make them harder to eat?

If you are going to store them for a long time, dry them cracker dry, and then vacuume seal them with a food saver.

through time the organism will constantly lose its potency(psilosin/psilocybin)
but to keep them at very low temperatures slows this down to almost zero..if you were to heat them you would be speeding up process.
so dont heat them or leave them in the sun either.
and i cant see why you would have problems eating them just because they are as dry as a cracker..
have you not eaten mushrooms before?

That definitely wouldn't hurt. If there's any residual moisture the silica will absorb it.

of course ive eaten them, didnt know if it was the same, ive had some mushrooms that are dryer then others, some that are so dry that they are hard to chew, and i have heard of some people getting them that were so dry they almost hurt to swallow them.

Boil shrooms in a rolling boil for 15 min, pour off tea toss shrooms in bottom of pan, enjoy!

If you're chewing them and find that they are too dry for your liking, simply take a swig of something and chew them with the liquid in your mouth, they'll absorb it in no time.

thanks for the info, sorry for my noobism, until now i just bought mushrooms and resold them, didnt know the process of drying and storing. Wasnt sure if there was numerous methods or just a few common ones.

I bought a window screen from wally world. And a fan if you dont have one. Put the mushrooms on the screen and I fan dry on medium till crispy dry, then put a paper towel in a rubber maid container, and leave in the fridge till I feel the time has come to ingest..

I ingest, I grind mine into flour and mix with food or drink.
I had an ounce of chitwans ground up once, my friend and I both ate about 4 grams to start. Couple hours later I'm tripping balls and he's not feeling it yet, so he goes up grabs a big spoon and gobbles down a big heaping spoon full.
Shortly there after, the initial 4 grams hits him pretty hard and the next 4-5 hours are pretty much a blur of lights and colors for him and he's immobile on the couch.
So anyway, if you find it's hard to eat, grind, mix and eat :-D
I prefer orange and/or pineapple juice to mix with.
