Looking for advice on Budget Equipment... Ie Pressure cookers...

Hello everyone I am basically budgeting my next paycheck for all the various equipment I need, while waiting for my spores to arrive in the mail... Anyways I have a garage type space that is clean, and attached to my house (ie my safe growing space).. Anyways in my local area I can't find any decently priced ELECTRONIC pressure cookers ( under $200 or reasonable features for that price). I do however have a brand new coleman stove. So would anyone recommend I go out and get a cheaply priced Pot style pressure cooker and do it in the garage on the coleman??? Or is it more worth my time to get a large electronic style one, but possibly have to sink more time ( and another paycheck) and order one online??? any advice appreciated.

I would say that the answer would depend on how much you plan on growing. If it is just a few jars, get the small pc. If money is not really that much of an issue, get the biggest pc you can find. YOu will want to get a bigger pc later anyway, so if you can, just get the big one.

K so for me being able to do enough Jars will be the biggest concern.. I basically would be much more comfortable buying three large pot style pressure cookers for 50 bucks each and have too colemans going in the garage so I could do like 50 jars at a time ( This venture is split with a friend so I pretty much gotta double up on everything) instead of having to wait the next morning for an electronic PC to cool and do a batch of 6 again etc.
Thanks, I appreciate the input

Money wise I'm pretty tight right now so I figured as long as pot style ones are reliable I'm probably going to stick with them... Any one have much experience with these kind of PC's ????

they work great, if that is the route you are going, you should have no worries.

thanks that basically just removed a lot of confusion for me... Yeah I think this is the route that will work best for me currently... Well maybe I'll be back in a couple weeks with a grow log if I can ever find my digital camera.....

Thrift stores often have all sorts of goodies.
Even if you get a large PC, you'll also want a small one eventually- so there's no reason not to get that one first.

awesome. I'm glad I looked into it because originally I was pretty naive about the subject. I have SEEN stove top pressure cookers before with no gauge setting, so I assumed they all were like that lol. So you'd advise for sure getting a small one too?? makes sense I suppose if I'm doing one half pint jar for a liquid culture I won't need a big monster sized one.
Well thanks a lot dudes.

I use my 4qt Mirro as often as the 23qt Presto. It's perfect for LC, or a few PF jars.
If I ever have to buy another big PC, I'm going to get the AA. But at the time, I really couldn't justify the cost for a hobby tool.
The Presto is nice, don't get me wrong. But it's like comparing a Honda to a Hummer. Good value for the money, but not the best money can buy.

If you're doing the brf tek, you don't need a pressure cooker. All you need is a large kettle like what you boil spaghetti noodles in. Make sure it has a tight fitting lid. Watch all four of these videos and you'll be off to a good start. RR
