I don't mind the personalisms rule... but why hold a vote if the results are going to be ignored? The people have spoken and they want something else.
Why does a meaningless name change poll hold more credence than a meaningful rule change poll?
Really, the less futzing people do with a forum, the fewer problems the forum will have.
I never noticed anything was broken, so what are we trying to fix?
Why are y'all stirring the philosophical hornet's nest?
The Staff's compulsion to fuck with this forum is quite annoying... and redundant.

Yes, they have spoken that they did not like a blanket rule against personalisms, and I've consequently updated the rules to reflect a more precisely delineated rule that allows complimentary or on-topic personalisms. I've also been having some second thoughts myself about completely allowing free reign to insults here; it seems we would gain only the freedom to insult at the price of losing civility.

Yeah DeC... I've been thinking about the same thing. I came to a very similar conclusion.
Best I can come up with is: Keep your personalisms ON TOPIC.
Threads derail in here all the time, it is what we do, but if personalisms cause a thread to derail into trash talk, repremand the offender(s) for being off topic (I believe the Shroomery TOS covers staying on topic). No need for another rule, it is already covered when we agree to be a member of this website.
Not a perfect solution, but it might work.
Thank you for the rule adjustment. Let's see what happens.
