Not mindless but we are certainly animals who procreate for continuing the species.
There is no meaning beyond that, only human emotions and ideas. These ideas/emotions are not necessarily an observable fact like species continuation.

The manifestation of ideas and emotions is the material world we create. and is then indeed observable. Electricity is unobservable until it manifests in something like a light bulb.
We procreate for continuing our species, but you do believe in some type of evolution don't you?
Emotions and ideas are what is continuing our evolution, mentally and physically. And yes, human evolution is an observable thing.
We don't need thousands of years to make observable changes like animals do.
