California Sheriff Raids Medical Marijuana Dispensary with DEA

Medical marijuana is legal in California and Attorney General Eric Holder recently said federal agents will no longer be utilized to raid dispensaries unless they are violating both federal and state law.
 (BAKERSFIELD, Calif.) - In spite of recent announcements by the Attorney General that the days of federal agents raiding legal medical marijuana dispensaries are over, the Sheriff of Kern County, California utilized agents from the federal Drug Enforcement Agency Wednesday in its raid of a medical marijuana dispensary in east Bakersfield Wednesday afternoon.
Local TV station KGET 17 News reports that the search warrant was served on the Green Cross Compassionate Medical Marijuana Co-operative at 319 Bernard Street in Bakersfield.
The station's Website stated that their calls to the sheriff’s department were not immediately returned. They did contact the DEA who reportedly stated that the agency was there only to assist, insisting that the lead agency on the case was the sheriff’s department.
The story is taking place a couple of hours east of Morro Bay, California, where lawful medical marijuana dispensary owner Charles Lynch was singled out by the local sheriff who also used the DEA to conduct their raid.
Medical marijuana is legal in California and Attorney General Eric Holder recently said federal agents will no longer be utilized to raid dispensaries unless they are violating both federal and state law.
Sheriff Donny Youngblood told KGET 17 News that his office will not interfere with the operation of non-profit medical co-operatives run by patients for patients. But, he said dispensaries that sell marijuana for a profit should be expected to be treated like other drug dealers.
The powerful group of advocates fighting for patient's rights in California are sure to be highly dismayed with this seemingly creative law enforcement approach.
Bakersfield, California is not a community known for progressive politics in law enforcement. There are many occasions over the years that Kern County deputies have reportedly violated the rights of news reporters and photographers on the job.
There is nothing more to report at this time, we will make calls and try to get more of the story.

Some day somebody needs to go to work on these piggies with some AK47s with armor piercing rounds and some rocket launchers. I doubt they'd be abusing people much after that. That would be a lesson for all piggies around the world.

I support that statement completely. Domestic terrorism that targeted officials who abuse their power (politicians and cops) would greatly improve this country.

I'm not normally a "Fuck da police!" kind of guy, but shit like this really pisses me off.
It may turn out that there was, in fact, a valid reason for them to be raided, but the appearance of collusion between the local yokels and the big bad DEA doesn't help them at all.
It's a never-ending cycle.... they figure out creative new ways to bust us and fuck us over, we figure out creative new ways to get past them and not get busted and fucked over.
This is just the most recent song in a long dance. What's particularly annoying is that one of the dancers has Alzheimers and the DJ sucks.

It's an internet forum. If I were an FBI agent, provoking people to take action like this wouldn't do me any good. We(they) can't track down everyone that reads a webpage on a website. Some of them could be reading from the library. Or they could tell someone that knows someone that knows someone that doesn't go on this site.

In fact, the more people that view shroomery news service and get pissed the fuck off, the better. Cause someone out there might just have the balls to do something. I know that pot smokers and activists want to stay as far away from violence as possible but I just don't think bending over and taking it up the ass from the government is going to work.

Whether anyone agrees with what you stated is irrelevant. What's I like about your statement is that it's extreme, although not very smart. If you took half of that aggression and channeled it into positive activism for cannabis you would make a great impact. Use that energy to beat the street.

Medical marijuana dispensaries should load their place with explosives. That way, if they are raided, they can blow the bitch up and kill the thieving bastards. I betcha the DEA would be more careful when they raided more dispensaries.

I live in Bakersfield, CA. As shitty as this sounds, there are points missing from the article. The story in our local newspaper said that loaded rifles and handguns were found at the dispensary, and that there was some fishy stuff going on as far as how it was being ran. Maybe if we didn't have idiots running these dispensaries that aren't playing by the rules, they would remain open.
Just something to think about before we start pointing fingers at everybody else.
Then again, can't believe everything you read in the paper right? Who knows?
