I noticed two of what I beleive to be seed pods on this cactus yesterday. Hoping someone could ID the cactus for me and give me a little info on when to take the seed pods off and what to do with them after that.

Annnnd here are some pictures of the rest of the garden. ^_^
[Stetsonia coryne, T. pachanoi, Oreocereus trollii & Aloe]

[Baby M. Hostilis]

[Stetsonia coryne & pups...this one was in the same pot with the 1st pic needing ID, they both seem to be doing better now]

[echinacea]

[chamomile]

[Salvia apiana]

[Salvia officinalis]

[Lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, peppers, fennel, carrots, radishes, broccli, leeks, asparagus, etc etc]

[Nasturtium]

[Gopher Hole >=/ ]

[Mint]

[Lemongrass(C. citratus)& Holy Basil(O. Sanctum)]

[cool plant I call moose head because I don't remember the name haha]

What happened to your Stetsonia coryne? Whatever happened, it's recovering nicely, and the pups look awesome.

Your moose head is possibly a Asplenium nidus Birds nest fern I have a friend that has one looks great growing through a wire basket. Nice one I use to love eating the little pods on the Nasturtium..long time ago....well peppery Respect

The cactus at the top looks to be some kind of Mammillaria, dunno what species though...
Also, I could be wrong on the Mammillaria ID, so wait for one of the veteran cacti growers to give you an ID.

I don't understand how you got those pups to grow at the bottom of that cactus...
Do you take chunks off of the cactus in order for it to make those baby cacti??

Im not sure. It was in my moms care...I think maybe over watering and not enough sun, plus it was in the same pot as the one in the 1st pic with the flowers. So I seperated them and have been watering like once every week and a half to two weeks in mostly full sun.

No I didnt. Someone else here said it's unual for a cactus to produce pups like that, and that it probably did so because of the amount of damage near the top. It's pretty severly damaged up there, but seems to be doing okay now that I've repotted and have been regulating its sun and watering. [like I said in a previous post, it was in a pot with another cactus and being over watered and not enough sun I think.

haha thanks... I tried looking up pix of seed pod for cacti and those looked similar.
Also, I found a few old dried up things that looked like they may have once upon a time looked like those, and upon breaking them apart a few little specs that looked a lot like seeds came out. Unfortunely I put them on a shelf under a pot and someone moved the pot and they got lost. =/

Just wait until you notice them beginning to shrivel. At that point pick them and lay the fruits out to dry. Once its fairly dry, dig out the gold
